
Moskey's 3 RBI's Lead QU Baseball Past Campbell, 7-5

BUIES CREEK, North Carolina - Brian Moskey (Higganum, CT) had three RBI's on Friday night at Jim Perry Stadium, leading QU Baseball past Campbell University, 7-5. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 4-1 (0-0 MAAC) on the 2017 season.
Senior shortstop Matthew Batten (Shelton, CT) went 2-for-3 with an RBI and four runs scored in the win. Joseph Burns (Shelton, CT) and Liam Scafariello (Southington, CT) each chipped in with a hit and a run scored.
Nick Paasch (Tolland, CT) got the start on the mound for the Bobcats, giving up no hits, three walks and one run over 1.2 innings. Alex Vargas (New York, NY) went the next 3.0 innings, surrendering two hits, one run, and no walks to go along with six strikeouts. Five Quinnipiac pitchers then went on to Mike DellaMedaglia (Somers, NY) threw the next 1.1 clean frames with a strikeout.
Andrew Workman (Pound Ridge, NY) got the next two outs, Matthew Osieja (Wyckoff, NY) recorded another out, Mike Davis (Sandy Hook, CT) went a scoreless inning, then Gregory Egan (Seldon, CT) came in and got the final two outs in the ninth for the save.
Batten got the Bobcats on the board in the top of the first inning, singling up the middle to plate Mike Palladino (Rockville Centre, NY) and make it 1-0. Moskey was then hit by a pitch with the bases loaded later in the inning to make it 2-0, and Ryan Nelson (Knoxville, TN) grounded into a double play to bring in another run before the inning's end.
The senior shortstop, Batten, scored on a wild pitch in the third inning, making it 4-0. Batten scored again on a throwing error in the fifth, and Moskey belted a two-run double down the left field line for the team's sixth and seventh runs of the night.
Quinnipiac is back in action two more times against Campbell this weekend, playing the Camels on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m.
