MATCH NOTES
- Quinnipiac completed a two-game road sweep after winning at Rider 3-2 yesterday. The Bobcats are now tied for sixth in the MAAC at 8-8 with Rider and would qualify for the six-team conference tournament if the season ended today, due to its sweep of the Broncs.
- Quinnipiac trailed 21-19 in the third set before rallying to complete the sweep at 25-23. Freshman Morgan Sherwin (Coplay, Pa.) started the run with a kill and had an ace to give the Bobcats the lead for good at 22-21.
- After the Peacocks fought off a match point to close to within 24-23, sophomore Natalie Alechko (Old Tappan, N.J.) had a kill to end it.
- Sophomore setter Maria Pansari (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) broke her career high with 18 digs in only three sets. Her previous high of 17 was set earlier this year in a five-setter at Iona.
- Saint Peter's was within a single point late in both the first (18-17) and second (16-15) sets before the Bobcats were able to get separation and win 25-20 and 25-17.
- A block from sophomore Kaleigh Oates (Downington, Pa.) closed out the first set.
- Sherwin had two kills in a 5-0 run to close out the second set after Saint Peter's was within 20-17.
- Junior Kat Miller (Collegeville, Pa.) led Quinnipiac in both kills (11) and blocks (4).
- In addition to Pansari's 18 digs, three other Bobcats were in double figures with 10 each – sophomores Alejandra Rodriguez (Toa Alta, P.R.), Lauren Miller (Collegeville, Pa.) and Maddie Lough (Chadron, Ohio), while Alechko just missed a double-double with 10 kills and nine digs.
- Quinnipiac (8-8) closes out next week with home matches against Canisius and Niagara. The Bobcats could get in with a split, especially if it earns a season sweep of Canisius (8-7 going into today's match at Siena) on Saturday.
