
QU Men's Tennis Finishes Up Regular Season with Three Matches This Week

Final Three Matches
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team will hit the road for two matches and return home for the regular season finale this week. The Bobcats will play three matches in four days, traveling to Fairfield on Thursday, April 21 at 3 PM then hitting the road for Albany at Watervliet High School on Saturday, April 23 at 11:30 AM. Quinnipiac will make up their postponed match with ASA College on Sunday, April 24 at 1 PM.
All-Time vs. Fairfield
Quinnipiac is 2-4 all-time against the Fairfield Stags in program history dating back to the 2007-08 season, but have won two of the last three meetings between the two teams. The Bobcats are 1-1 against the Stags since joining the MAAC, including last season's 6-1 win. Kei Ezaka was the only current Bobcat to win two matches on the day while format Bobcat Eric Ambrosio recorded his 123rd career win.
Scouting the Stags
Fairfield comes into the match with a 6-13 record and 4-2 mark in MAAC play, putting them half a game behind Quinnipiac and Monmouth who are 4-1. The Stags' two losses both came against Monmouth and Marist with 6-1 scores, but have won two straight over Siena and Saint Peter's following a three-match losing streak. Brad Orban is 14-14 on the season in singles, including 10-8 at No. 1 while Anthony Caputo and Jeffrey Rodgers are tied for second on the team with 11 singles wins. Ofir Solomon is 7-6 at No. 2 singles and has 10 wins overall. The doubles team of Solomon and Orban is 5-0 in MAAC play, all at No. 1 doubles and have seen wins overall while Rodgers and Caputo are 4-1 in the MAAC with six wins overall.
All-Time vs. Siena
The Bobcats are a perfect 10-0 against the Saints in their 10 career matches dating back to the 2000-01 season, and are 2-0 against them since joining the MAAC for the 2013-14 season. Quinnipiac has won no worse than 6-1 against Siena, and have won two 7-0 matches as conference opponents.
Scouting the Saints
Siena has struggled once again this season as they sit at 0-14 this season and 0-5 in MAAC play. Siena's last win came on Apr. 11, 2015 vs. Saint Peter's, giving them a 17 match losing streak. Siena's Evan Nierman leads the team with two wins on the season while Justin Hsu, Jace Koretz and Alessandro Saglia all have one win. In doubles, Nierman and Koretz have three wins as a team while Saglia and Diego Lebron have two wins and Alexander Reed and Peter Galante have one win.

Quinnipiac and ASA have never faced each other.
Scouting the Avengers
ASA College is competing in one of its first matches of the season on Saturday against the Bobcats. Just like its women's team, ASA has won two straight NJCAA Division I National Championships. In addition, the Avengers won all three doubles titles and three of the six singles titles.
Last Time Out
After handing Monmouth its first MAAC loss of the season with a 4-3 victory on April 14, the Bobcats fell to the Marist Red Foxes, 4-3, in a highly contested matchup between the two teams. Jonas Kuwert was the only Bobcat to win two matches on the day while Kei Ezaka picked up a big win at No. 1 singles.
Playoffs?
Quinnipiac needs a win at Fairfield on Thursday or at Siena on Saturday to clinch a spot in the MAAC Tournament for the second consecutive season. Last season, the Bobcats came into the playoffs as the No. 3 seed in the tournament.
MAAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Kei Ezaka earned his 100th career victory this past week and won two key matches at No. 1 singles to earn himself his first MAAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors and second of his career.
Mr. 100
Ezaka picked up his 100th career win with two victories against the Monmouth Hawks on Thursday, April 14 to become the seventh player in program history to win 100 matches. Ezaka is also the second player this season to reach the mark, joining Luke Roser. Both Ezaka and Roser are tied for fifth in the Division I program record books with 51 doubles wins while his 51 career singles wins are sixth. Ezaka has 32 wins this season with 16 each in doubles and singles. Ezaka is a perfect 5-0 at No. 1 singles in MAAC play.
Heating Up
Kuwert was the only Bobcat to win two matches against the Red Foxes on Saturday in the 4-3 loss. His wins give him 24 on the season, including 13 wins at singles and 11 at doubles. Kuwert has improved his win total to 90 in his career with 55 of his wins coming at Quinnipiac.
King Jule
Julian Rozenstein set a new single-season career-high singles wins total with his 21st of the season as he picked up a big No. 3 singles win over Marist's Fredrik Bjerke. Rozenstein has 41 singles victories in his first two seasons as a Bobcat, and 64 wins overall. The win against Bjerke was also Rozenstein's 30th of the season as he improved to 30-14.
Guns 'n' Roses
Roser continued to shine this season for the Bobcats as he picked up two wins over the week against Monmouth, including the clinching match in their 4-3 victory. Roser now has 36 victories this season, with 14 coming in singles play and 22 in doubles. Roser battled at No. 5 singles against Monmouth as he went into a third set and pulled away with the 6-1, 6-7 (3), 6-4 win.
10-10-20
Ryoma Haraguchi picked up two wins in the victory against Monmouth on Thursday to tie his single-season career-high with 20 wins. He cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles as well as picking up the 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles with Rozenstein. Haraguchi has 10 singles wins and 10 doubles wins this season.
Eye on the Prize
If the Bobcats pick up one win against either Fairfield or Siena, they will clinch a berth in their second straight MAAC Tournament with the semifinals set for Saturday, April 30 and the championship match scheduled for Sunday, May 1 at the Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, New Jersey.
