
Sophia Dzulynsky Wins 100th Career Match as QU Women's Tennis Falls 4-1 to Fordham

KISSIMMEE, Florida – Quinnipiac women's tennis senior Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Florida) recorded the 100th win of her career on Friday as the Bobcats fell to the Fordham Rams, 4-1, to conclude their Florida road trip.
Dzulynsky is the 20th player in program history to record 100 wins in her career, winning six matches at Syracuse as a freshman before transferring to Quinnipiac to win her next 94 matches. Dzulynsky has won 36 singles matches and 64 doubles matches in her impressive career.
Quinnipiac fell to 6-9 on the season with their second straight loss as Fordham improved to 5-2 this season with their three consecutive victory.
The Bobcats won the doubles point for the fifth straight match. Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) and Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) won at No. 1 doubles, with Horton winning her 19th doubles match of the season and 32nd overall while Young won her seventh match of the season. Dzulynsky and Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) won their eighth doubles match as a pair on Friday.
Dzulynsky and Rencheli's doubles victory as the first match completed of the afternoon, with the pair defeating Estelle Wong and Gianna Insogna, 6-1, before Horton and Young knocked off Mayu Sato and Hannah Drayton at No. 1 doubles, 6-2. Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California) and Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita) were up 4-2 on Alexis Zobeideh and Destiny Grunin but their match was unfinished.
Singles play was all Fordham as they came back to win the match. Sato defeated Dzulynsky at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-4 just after Wong defeated Horton at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Drayton picked up the Rams third win of the match with a three-set win over Rencheli at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 3-6, 10-7. Young lost a closely contested three-set match of her own at No. 5 singles to Zobeideh, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7. Lu was up 2-6, 7-6 (4), 3-0 on Grunin in the third set but it went unfinished and Lohaphaisan was up 7-6 (3), 5-5 as her match with Insogna was unfinished.
The Quinnipiac women's tennis team returns to the courts on Wednesday, March 30 at 3:30 PM when they travel to Smithfield, Rhode Island to take on the Bryant Bulldogs.
