
John Bodenhamer Hits His First Career Home Run as QU Baseball Drops Final Game at FGCU, 10-3

FORT MYERS, Florida – Quinnipiac baseball outfielder John Bodenhamer (Maple Valley, Washington) led the Bobcats with his first home run of the season as the Bobcats fell, 10-3, in the final game of their four-game series with the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles on Sunday, March 13, at Swanson Stadium.
Bodenhamer went 2 for 4 with a double in addition to his home run with one run and one RBI. Bodenhamer's was his first career home run in a Quinnipiac uniform.
Lou Iannotti (North Haven, Connecticut) also tallied two hits in the game to extend his hitting streak to 12 games, going 2 for 3 with a run scored and a hit by pitch. Iannotti has now recorded two or more hits in five straight games, batting .619 over that stretch. Iannotti is currently batting .468 on the season to lead the Bobcats.
Rob Pescitelli (West Islip, New York) went 1 for 4 with a walk to extend his on-base streak to 12 games to open up the season.
Joe Burns (Shelton, Connecticut) also went 1 for 3 for the Bobcats with a double, walk and a RBI for the Bobcats.
The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after sending nine batters to the plate. Jake Noll, Matt Reardon and Colton Bottomley hit three straight singles to open up the game and load the bases. Nick Rivera followed with a fourth straight single, this one going to right field that scored Noll. Corey Fehribach reached on a fielder's choice that scored Reardon for the second run of the game before Bottomley scored on a wild pitch for the inning's third run.
Quinnipiac chipped away at the Florida Gulf Coast lead from the third through fifth innings to tie the game at 3-3. Moskey drew a one-out walk to put a runner on base before moving up to second on Iannotti's two-out single. Burns drew a full-count walk of his own to load up the bases for Nelson, where Moskey scored on a wild pitch during the Nelson at bat. Ben Gibson (Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts) struck out swinging to leave the bases loaded.

Florida Gulf Coast reclaimed the lead with single runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to take a 5-3 lead. Back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the fifth inning by Rivera and Fehribach resulted in a 4-3 lead, with Fehribach's double scoring Rivera. In the next inning, the Eagles added another run as Noll singled home Tyler Selesky, who led off the inning with a pinch-hit walk.
The Eagles added five more runs in the next two innings to take a 10-3 lead. Selesky singled through the right side to score Rivera with one out in the inning. In the next at bat, Gage Morey reached on a fielder's choice that scored Zach Spivey. Two batters later, Noll ripped a bases loaded single to left field that scored Morey and Spivey. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Rivera hit a home run over the center-field wall to make it 10-3.
