Where I Come From
The nationally-ranked No. 4/4 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team is back home at High Point Solutions Arena for the first time since Jan. 20 where they will host St. Lawrence on Friday, Feb. 12 at 5 P.M. before turning around for a top 10 showdown with the nationally-ranked No. 5/5 Clarkson Golden Knights on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 4 P.M.
Skate with the Bobcats
This weekend is your final chance to skate with the Bobcats! Following Saturday's game against Clarkson at 4 P.M., Quinnipiac will host the final "Skate with the Bobcats" of the season. Fans interersted in joining the team out on the ice should bring their own skates for the post-game skate. It's a great chance to get autographs and photos taken with your favorite Bobcats!
All-Time Against St. Lawrence
Quinnipiac and St. Lawrence have been known to provide quite the theatrics in their season series, with the Bobcats going 9-13-4 in 26 career games between the two teams. In recent history, the Bobcats are 3-1-1 in the last five games including a pair of postseason meetings. Earlier this season, the Bobcats routed the Saints, 5-0, in their first win at Appleton Arena since Nov. 12, 2011. In the win this season, Taylar Cianfarano and Randi Marcon each scored two goals in the win while Melissa Samoskevich scored the game-winning goal.
Scouting the Saints
St. Lawrence continues to be their consistent selves as they come into the weekend in sixth place in ECAC Hockey with a 14-11-5 overall record and an 8-6-4 record in ECAC Hockey play. The Saints are unbeaten in the last three games after tying Rensselaer and defeating Union this past weekend. St. Lawrence has played particularly well since the new year, posting a 5-2-4. Brooke Webster leads the Saints with 19 assists and 28 points while her nine goals are tied for the second most on the team. Kennedy Marchment leads the team heading into the weekend with 10 goals while her 15 assists and 25 points are second on the Saints. Hannah Miller is the third best forward on the Saints this season with nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points. Amanda Boulier is the leading defenseman for the Saints with seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points followed by Kirsten Padalis at one goal and eight assists. Grace Harrison has taken over as the Saints starting goaltender, starting the last eight games. Over the season, Harrison is 4-3-5 with a 2.16 GAA and a .913 save percentage, leading the team in both categories. St. Lawrence comes in with an 18.4 percent power play, scoring 16 goals in 87 chances while the penalty kill is 82.9 percent, killing off 68 of 82 penalties.
All-Time Against Clarkson
The Bobcats have enjoyed recent success against the Golden Knights, winning the last four games and allowing just one goal over that span. Quinnipiac's shutout at Clarkson this past trip was just the third shutout at Clarkson in program history, with Sydney Rossman recording her second career shutout in Potsdam, N.Y. Taylar Cianfarano posted her second career hat trick during the game. Overall, the Bobcats are 2-8-1 at home against Clarkson after winning 1-0 last season in Hamden.
Scouting the Golden Knights
Clarkson is making its traditional spring towards the top of the conference standings, currently riding an 11-game unbeaten streak heading into the weekend. Clarkson is 8-0-2 in their 10 games since the break, with all 10 games coming in conference play. Last weekend, Clarkson outscored Rensselaer and Union a combined 13-2, including a 9-1 win over Rensselaer. The Golden Knights' offense has been one of the best in the country, scoring 111 goals in 30 games, led by Cayley Mercer with 20 goals and 21 assists for 41 points. Mercer is second to Cianfarano in the conference in goals while the two are tied for the league lead in points. Olivia Howe is second on the team with 32 points thanks to 13 goals and 32 assists while Genevieve Bannon has nine goals and 20 assists for 29 points. Loren Gabel is second on the team with 14 goals. Defenseman Savannah Harmon leads all blue-liners on the Golden Knights with four goals and 16 assists for 20 points. Shea Tiley has been a force to be reckoned with between the pipes, going 20-3-4 with a 1.36 GAA and .931 save percentage, recording 487 saves in 27 games. Clarkson's special teams have been solid, going 17 for 91 on the power play (18.7 percent) while the penalty kill is just as strong, killing off 94 of 105 penalties (89.5 percent).

For the 18th consecutive week this season, the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team was ranked in the top 10 of the USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll, ranking fourth for a program record ninth consecutive week. The Bobcats have been ranked in the top 10 of the USCHO.com Poll for 63 consecutive weeks. This week, Quinnipiac is one of two schools in the country to have both its men's and women's ice hockey teams ranked in the top five of both polls, joined by Boston College who's men's team is ranked No. 3 and the women's team is No. 1.
Bobcats in the PairWise
Quinnipiac has continued to retain its solid position at the No. 4 spot in the PairWise rankings for the past two months, nestled between Minnesota at No. 3 and Clarkson at No. 5. With an .862 winning percentage, the Bobcats have the fourth highest winning percentage while its RPI of .6283 is higher than Clarkson, giving the Bobcats some breathing room. In strong playoff position from ECAC Hockey is Quinnipiac (No. 4), Clarkson (No. 5) and Princeton (No. 7) while Colgate (No. 10), Harvard (No. 11) and St. Lawrence (T-No. 12) are on the outside looking in.
Starting Over
The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team had their 21-game unbeaten streak come to an end on Saturday, Feb. 6 with a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Colgate Raiders. Quinnipiac's unbeaten streak was a new program record, besting last season's 16-game unbeaten streak. It also tied the school record, originally set in the 2012-13 season by the men's ice hockey team.
Not in my Zone
Quinnipiac is among the best in the country in numerous statistics, but are currently allowing the fewest shots on goal in the country with 517 allowed in 29 games, which is 16 fewer than Wisconsin who is in second place.
Other National Stats
Nationally, the Bobcats also rank in the top five of numerous categories. From a defensive standpoint, the Bobcats are second in the country in goals against average at 0.97, only trailing Wisconsin who has a 0.57 GAA. The Bobcats are also second in the country in shots on goal allowed per game at 17.83, a mere .06 behind Wisconsin who leads the country at 17.77. Special teams have also been a strength this season, with the Bobcats power play ranked third in the country at 26.2 percent and the penalty kill ranked fourth at 91.5 percent.
Improved Power Play
The power play this season has become a big strength for the Bobcats as they are third in the country and first in ECAC Hockey at 26.2 percent. Since Christmas break, the power play has been even better, clicking at a rate of 36.2 percent which is second behind Minnesota. The Bobcats have scored a power-play goal in eight straight games dating back to Jan. 9 at Union and nine of the last 10 games.
Playoffs?
With the playoffs quickly approaching on the horizon, let's see where the Bobcats lie. Simply put, if Quinnipiac picks up two wins this weekend, regardless of the other results, the Bobcats will win at least a share of their first regular season championship in program history as well as the No. 1 seed in the ECAC Hockey playoffs.
Home Cookin'
The Bobcats have some of the best home numbers in ECAC Hockey, led by their .893 winning percentage and are the only team in the conference to not have a loss with an 11-0-3 record. Quinnipiac is one of four schools in the country that have yet to record a loss at home. Over the past three seasons, the Bobcats have compiled a 38-4-9 record for an .833 winning percentage.
Assists are Forever
Nicole Connery led the Bobcats in points this past weekend with three all coming on assists to increase her career point total to 92, looking to become the fourth member of the 100-point club in program history. Connery's three assists gives her 18 on the season and 27 points, tied for her most points in a single season in her career.
Can't Stop the Fire
Just 65 games into her collegiate career, Taylar Cianfarano continues to leave her mark in the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey record books. With a goal and an assist this past weekend, Cianfarano broke Kelly Babstock's record from the 2011-12 season for points by a sophomore with 41 this year. Cianfarano's goal also gave her 23 on the season, tied for the third most goals in a single season in program history. Friday's goal against Cornell was also Cianfarano's 40th of her career, as she became the fourth player in program history to record 40 goals.
Ice-Berg
Kristen Tamberg's career season continued on Friday as she netted her fifth multiple-point game of the season after netting a power-play goal and an assist. All three of Tamberg's goals this season have come on the power play. Tamberg's goal and an assist gave her new single-season career-highs in goals and assists (14) while extending her point total to 17.
The Turner-ator
Meghan Turner has put together a great junior season for the Bobcats as she has scored eight goals and tallied 11 points this season, just two points shy of her single-season career-high. Coming into this season, Turner had registered just nine goals in her first two seasons, almost doubling that total this season.
Barry Nice
Sophomore Alicia Barry had a night to remember on Saturday despite the Bobcats loss to Colgate as she scored the first goal of her career. Barry's goal also gave her three points this season, a new high for the Bobcats defenseman after putting up two points as a freshman last season.
One of the Best
Melissa Samoskevich extended her goal-scoring streak to four straight games on Friday night before having the streak snapped on Saturday. Samoskevich is second on the Bobcats with 14 goals and 28 points this season, looking to become the second straight Bobcat to record 30 points in a season, following Cianfarano last season. Samoskevich's 28 points are currently the fifth most by a freshman in program history.
Heart Marmer
Barry wasn't the only Bobcat to score her first goal of the season as Danielle Marmer accomplished the feat the previous night at Cornell. Marmer's goal was the second of her career as she picked up her fourth point of the season setting a new personal high.
Double Trouble
Nicole Brown continues to find the stat sheet for the Bobcats as she picked up two more assists this weekend, with both coming on the power play. Brown is tied for the most power-play points on the team with seven. Brown has four goals and 14 assists as she looks for her first career 20 point season in a Quinnipiac uniform.
Greco Mythology
For the first time in her career, Emma Greco picked up assists in back-to-back games as she tallied her third and fourth assists of the season. Greco picked up assists on both Marmer and Barry's first goals of the season as she is just one assist shy of tying her career-high for assists and points in a season.
Cyd the Kid
Cydney Roesler got back on the stat sheet for the Bobcats as she tallied an assist on Cianfarano's highlight reel goal against Cornell. Roesler's assist was her eighth of the season for her 12th point after not picking up a point since Nov. 21 at St. Lawrence.
Taryn it Down
Taryn Baumgardt picked up her eighth assist of the season for her 11th point after assisting Tamberg's game-winning power-play goal at Cornell on Friday night. Baumgardt continues to blow past her career-highs. She ranks third among defenseman on the Bobcats with 11 points, and is one of four defenseman to score at least three goals this season.
