
QU Women's Tennis to host Rider on Saturday

HOME AGAIN
The Quinnipiac women's tennis team will have their first home match of the season as they play host to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Rider on Saturday, Oct. 8.
SCOUTING THE BRONCS
Rider is coming into Hamden with a record of 2-2 (1-1 MAAC). The Broncs started the season with a 7-0 loss against MAAC opponent Siena, but bounced back with a 7-0 victory over St. Francis Brooklyn. Rider followed with their second win of the season when they defeated conference foe Monmouth 6-1, then suffered a 5-2 loss at the hands of Wagner.
LAST SEASON AGAINST THE BRONCS
The Bobcats were able to blow past the Broncs 7-0, in their only matchup last season. Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California) won a pair of matches to extend her team-high win total to 16 at the time and Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) secured two wins on the day.
CONNECTICUT SWING RECAP
The Bobcats went 1-1 in their Connecticut swing trips as they lost to UConn 4-3 on Tuesday, Oct. 4, but beat Sacred Heart 6-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 5. In Quinnipiac's win over the Pioneers, the Bobcats were able to sweep in doubles competition, before winning five straight singles matches to secure the win.
NECK AND NECK
Freshman Layla Rodriguez (Rancho Santa Margarita, California) earned a singles and doubles win against Sacred Heart, which gave her 18 total wins on the season, tying her for the overall team lead with Horton.
DYNAMIC DUO
The on-court chemistry between Horton and Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) has produced great results. After securing a win over Sacred Heart, the duo's record increased to 11-3 on the season.
TOP OF THE CHARTS
Layla Rodriguez is tops on the team in singles winning percentage for players with more than five singles matches on the season. Rodriguez is 7-2 which is equivalent to a .777 winning percentage.
UP NEXT
Following the Saturday match against Rider, the Quinnipiac women's tennis team will travel to Jersey City, to take on MAAC rival Saint Peter's on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 3 P.M.
