
QU Women's Tennis has Four Qualify at ITA Regionals

REPRESENTING AT REGIONALS
The Quinnipiac women's tennis team will have four players competing in the ITA Regional Tournament, hosted by Yale University in New Haven, starting Thursday, Oct. 20 and going until Tuesday, Oct. 25. The four players being sent doubles the number of players the team sent at last year's event.
SCHEDULE OF COMPETITION
This weekend's schedule sees the Bobcats starting play on Thursday, Oct. 20 with Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) playing in the qualifying singles tournament. On Friday, Oct. 21 Rencheli will team up with Layla Rodriguez (Rancho Santa Margarita, California) and Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) will team with Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) for the first day of the doubles main draw. Horton will also compete in the singles main draw on Friday.
LUCKY No. 21
Young, Horton and Rodriguez are all tied for the team lead in wins on the 2016-17 season with 21 wins.
WE SEE YA', SITILIA
Rencheli has had a strong start to the 2016-17 season. Rencheli boasts a 13-6 record on the season so far, including a 10-3 record in doubles play. Rencheli's career record stands at 65-37. Rencheli recently finished up play at the 2016 ITA/Oracle Masters, where her and men's tennis player Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) almost pulled the upset of the tournament, as they narrowly lost to the top seeded mixed doubles duo.
HORTON HEARS A WHO
Horton enters the ITA Regionals with a season record of 21-6 (12-3 doubles, 9-3 singles). Overall, Horton is 110-59 in her career for the Bobcats and will make her second appearance in the ITA's.
SYDNEY, THE MAJOR KEY
Young has been vital to the team's success this season as well as over her career. Young holds a 21-7 record on the year (13-3 doubles, 8-4 singles). Young boasts a career record of 122-59, and her 122 career wins is tops on the active roster.
LIGHTNING RODRIGUEZ
Rodriguez has gotten off to an electric start to her collegiate career. The freshman boasts a record of 21-5, including an impressive 12-3 record in doubles play.
TAKE A BREAK
The Quinnipiac women's tennis team will have three months off before returning to the courts on Jan. 28 when they will travel to take on UMass at the Bay Road Club in Amherst at 12:30 p.m.
