LAST WEEKEND
Quinnipiac used road wins over Connecticut and New Hampshire this past weekend to help improve to 4-0-0 for the first time in a season since 2010-11. The Bobcats first topped Connecticut, 3-0, in its first road game of the year from Storrs on Friday, Oct. 7. Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) scored twice in the win, while goalie Sydney Rossman (Excelsior, MN) recorded a 21-save shutout. Raquel Pennoyer (Rehoboth, Massachusetts) chipped in with a goal of her own, and Emma Greco (Burlington, Ontario), Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) and Taryn Baumgardt (Innisfail, Alberta) each added a helper.
A day later, Quinnipiac used three third-period goals to route New Hampshire, 3-0, from Whittemore Center in Durham. Senior forward Meghan Turner (Bedford, New Hampshire) paced Quinnipiac's scoring attack with a goal and an assist in the win. Rossman recorded her third straight shutout, making 14 total stops. She now has 21 career shutouts, inching closer to the program's all-time record of 25 career clean sheets. Freshman Kenzie Prater (Hudson, Wisconsin) and Woods also had a goal.
ALL-TIME vs. MERCYHURST
Quinnipiac is 2-12-2 all-time vs. the Lakers, but the Bobcats have gone 2-1-2 in the last five meetings between the two teams. Quinnipiac hosted Mercyhurst in a two-game series to begin the regular season last year, playing to a 3-3 tie in the opener on Oct. 2, 2013, then topped the Lakers, 2-1, the following day on Oct. 3, 2016. Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) had one goal and two assists in the two games, Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) recorded two goals, Melissa Samoskevich (Sandy Hook, Connecticut) had a goal and an assist, and Meghan Turner (Bedford, New Hampshire) registered a goal. Sydney Rossman (Excelsior, MN) made a combined 45 saves in the two games. Mercyhurst won the first 11 matchups in the series, dating back to 2004.
SCOUTING THE LAKERS
Mercyhurst tied and lost to No. 10 North Dakota in its first regular season action on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. The Lakers played to a 3-1 loss on Friday, then a 1-1 tie on Saturday. Sophomore Rachael Smith returns for Mercyhurst after leading the team with 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) last year. Captain Paige Horton returns in 2016-17, as well, after recording 14 points last year. Sophomore Sarah Hine and freshman Sam Isbell have recorded a goal each for the Lakers this year. Sarah McDonnell returns in goal, coming off a freshman season where she recorded 17 wins, had a 1.75 goals against average and was awarded CHA Goaltender of the Year. McDonnell allowed three goals in one period vs. North Dakota, then Jessica Convery played in net for the rest of the series – allowing one goal in over 103 minutes.

Four games into its season, Quinnipiac ranks tied for No. 6 (3.5 goals per game) in team offense and tied for No. 2 (1.0 goal allowed per game) in team defense. Rossman currently leads Division I hockey with three shutouts, while Cianfarano is tied for No. 3 nationally with eight points.

Junior forward Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) was selected to the Preseason All-ECAC First Team. Last year as a sophomore, Cianfarano led the ECAC with 52 points.
OFFENSIVE ATTACK
Quinnipiac returns three of its top five scorers from 2015-16. Cianfarano led the team with 52 points on 28 goals and 24 assists, Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) recorded 34 points via 11 goals and 23 assists, and Melissa Samoskevich (Sandy Hook, CT) 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points. Nicole Connery (13g, 14a) and Nicole Kosta (10g, 15a) both graduated following the end of last season.
LAST SEASON
As a team, Quinnipiac is on the heels of perhaps its most impressive season in program history, which ended with an ECAC Hockey Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. The Bobcats went 30-3-5 in 2015-16, earning the most wins and highest win percentage (.885) in team history. Head coach Cassandra Turner also set the NCAA Record for most wins by a first-year women's ice hockey head coach.

- Quinnipiac has risen to No. 2 overall in USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll for the first time in program history, as announced on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016. The Bobcats received 130 points in the poll and earned a first-place vote for the first time in program history, as well.
- The Bobcats were also ranked No. 3 nationally for the second week in a row in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll, receiving 154 total votes.

Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) was unanimously voted by her teammates to be the Bobcats' captain for 2016-17 season, the team announced on Sunday, April 3. Woods will be the 15th different player to be named captain in the program's 16-year history. As a junior, she served as an assistant captain alongside Kristen Tamberg (North Toronto, Ontario) - with Cydney Roesler (Stittsville, Ontario) as the captain. Forward Meghan Turner and goaltender Sydney Rossman have been selected as assistant captains. Woods has two goals and an assist so far this year for the Bobcats, and 37 career goals to go along with 49 assists.

Bobcats' goaltender Sydney Rossman returns for 2016-17. She had a .949 save percentage a season ago, allowing just .90 goals per game in 39 games (second-best in the nation). The 2016 ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Year recorded 16 shutouts in 2015-16, which is tied with former Bobcat netminder Chelsea Laden's single-season record from 2014-15. Her current .946 save percentage and .95 goals-against average for her career rank No. 1 in program history. She has three shutouts so far in 2016-17, with a .944 save percentage. She is also an assistant captain for Quinnipiac this year.
