LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey – The Quinnipiac women's tennis team put up a dominating performance Sunday afternoon on their way to a 7-0 sweep of the Rider Broncs to extend their MAAC winning streak to 21 matches, including 17 straight regular season matches.
In the victory, the Bobcats (2-1, 1-0 MAAC) yielded just four games to the Broncs all afternoon, with one coming in doubles and three in singles. Since joining the MAAC, the Bobcats have not lost a conference match.
Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California) won a pair of matches to extend her team-high win total to 16, just one greater than doubles partner Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) who has 15 wins after a pair of victories Sunday afternoon.
Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, California) won two matches, one at No. 2 doubles and No. 1 singles, to pick up her 82nd career victory, surpassing teammate Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) for the most wins on the active roster.
In doubles play, Dzulynsky and Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California) picked up the first win of the afternoon at No. 2 doubles to secure the doubles point with a 6-0 victory of Danielle Scrudato and Kelli Swanson. With Alexandra Mircea (Glen Rock, New Jersey) and Adrian Young (Orange Village, Ohio) picking up a victory by default, Bobcats won the doubles point. To complete the sweep, Horton and Lohaphaisan cruised to a 6-1 victory over Vanessa Canda and Caitlin Gardner.
Singles was much of the same domination for the Bobcats, as Dzulynsky breezed to a straight-set shutout of Canda at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, as the first completed match of the afternoon. In No. 3 singles, Horton was just as dominant as she didn't lose a single game to Scrudato, 6-0, 6-0. Lohaphaisan followed the trend of Dzulynsky and Horton, as she won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0, over Aleesha Rouse in No. 4 singles. Adrian Young moved up to No. 5 singles on the afternoon to pick up her third singles win of the season, 6-1, 6-0. Lu picked up her third singles win of the season as well, cruising past Gardner, 6-1, 6-1.
