
QU Women's Tennis Cruises Past Hartford, 6-1

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's tennis team extended their winning streak to three matches as the Bobcats picked up a 6-1 victory over the Hartford Hawks, snapping their three match winning streak on Friday night.
The Bobcats improved to 3-1 on the season while the Hawks fell to 3-2 with their first loss since the season opener.
With three convincing wins at doubles, the Bobcats swept the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) and Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California) continued their dominant run as the top doubles team at No. 1 doubles with a 6-2 win over Skyler Schaar and Ariel Haber for their 12th doubles win as a pairing for the Bobcats. At No. 2 doubles, Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Florida) and Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California) picked up a strong win over Meredith Heitland and Emily Sneddon, 6-2. With the doubles point firmly intact, Alexandra Mircea (Glen Rock, New Jersey) and Adrian Young (Orange Village, Ohio) continued to play well at No. 3 doubles with a win over Hannah Goldman and Katherine Long, 6-1.
The Bobcats picked up five of the six singles points Friday afternoon. For the second consecutive match, Young didn't drop a single game as she won in straight sets over Long, 6-0, 6-0. Mircea and Horton each dropped just two games in singles play. At No. 5 singles, Mircea defeated Goldman with a straight set win, 6-1, 6-1 and at No. 3 singles, Horton cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Heitland. Lu picked up a strong straight set victory at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Haber. At No. 4 singles, Lohaphaisan added to her team-high win total of 18 wins with a 6-4, 6-1 over Sneddon.
At No. 1 singles, Dzulynsky nearly came through with a victory for the Bobcats. After blanking Schaar in the first set, Dzulynsky came up just short in the last two sets, falling 0-6, 7-5, 7-6 (6).
The Quinnipiac women's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 17 with their second MAAC matchup of the season against the Saint Peter's Peacocks at 12 P.M.
