Jared Waimon spent five seasons as an assistant coach with the Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team from 2014-15 through the 2018-19 season.
During Waimon's tenure with the program, Quinnipiac's goaltenders have achieved a great deal of success. Garteig was a two-time All-ECAC Hockey selection and Hobey Baker Nominee in 2015-16. Garteig also set school records with 78 wins, 19 shutouts and a 1.96 GAA in his career before signing an NHL contract with the Vancouver Canucks.
Most recently, Andrw Shortridge was the program's first-ever finalist for the Mike Richter Award in 2018-19, presented annually to the nation's top goaltender. He also was named a CCM/AHCA Second Team All-American and earned NCAA Statistical Championships as the national leader with a 1.51 GAA and .940 save percentage.
In addition to his work with collegiate student-athletes, Waimon also works with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program as the East Regional Goaltending Mentor. In February 2019, Waimon was named the goaltender coach for the United States National U-17 Team at the Five Nations Tournament in Tranås, Sweden. He is also a part of the USA Hockey Goaltending Development Program staff, a newly created program for the 2019-20 season.
Waimon previously coached at Sacred Heart University and Trinity College before joining the Quinnipiac staff.
In 2007, Waimon founded Pro Crease Goaltending in Cromwell, Conn. As the owner, Waimon directed Connecticut’s largest goalie specific training school.
Waimon graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in communication from Central Connecticut State University in 2003.
