Montana Fleming enters her third season as an assistant coach for Quinnipiac field hockey in 2021. She returned to Quinnipiac with her hiring in July 2019 after a one-year stint in the same role with the Temple Owls.
Fleming works with forwards and on the offensive game plan. In 2020-21, she coached two Bobcats to career-highs in goals scored as Quinnipiac finished just outside BIG EAST Tournament contention.
The Bobcats made big strides throughout the 2020 season, finishing the year with its two highest scoring games of the season. First year Julianna Cappello led all Quinnipiac forwards with six goals working under Fleming.
Prior to Quinnipiac, Fleming as was an assistant coach for the Temple field hockey team for one season, where they went 2-16 but saw big improvements on the offensive end down the stretch under Fleming.
Fleming spent the 2017 season as a fifth-year player for the Bobcats where she started all 18 games as a forward and midfielder. She logged 1,086 minutes, good for the fifth most on the team, and was tied for third on the team with three assists. Following the season, Fleming spent the spring as a graduate assistant coach before completing her master’s degree.
Prior to Quinnipiac, Fleming was a four-year letterwinner for the UConn Huskies and a two-time national champion in 2013 and 2014. While with the Huskies, Fleming was also a four-time BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament Champion, and was a two-time All-BIG EAST Academic Team Selection.
She played in 65 games throughout her four seasons at UConn and made 22 starts, totaling eight goals and three assists for 19 points. As a freshman, Fleming recorded a career-high four goals before finishing her Husky career in 2016 with three goals and two assists.
Fleming graduated from UConn in 2017 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, an individual major in crime and justice and a minor women's gender and sexual studies before completing her master's degree at Quinnipiac in 2018.
