POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac baseball team returns to MAAC play this weekend, traveling to take on the Marist Red Foxes at the McCann Baseball Field in Poughkeepsie, New York. Friday's contest is slated for a 3 PM first pitch, while both Saturday and Sunday are scheduled to start at noon.
LAST TIME OUT
- The last time out, the Bobcats dropped their midweek, non-conference contest to the Rhode Island Rams, 9-2.
- URI scored two runs in the opening inning before striking for seven in their half of the third inning.
- Quinnipiac scored two in their half of the ninth inning, thanks to an RBI single from Luke Zeisloft and an error allowing Brayden Hromada to come home to score.
- Seven different Bobcats toed the rubber in the effort, with Jacob Belecky, Mason Uslh, Landgon Hazen, Kevin Rusinak, and Teagan Beames combining for the final fifteen outs, while allowing just three hits.
HISTORY VS. MARIST
- Friday's matchup will mark the 31st time the Bobcats and Red Foxes will face off since March 13th, 2001.
- Marist leads the all-time series 16-14.
- The two teams split their four meetings last season, with the Red Foxes taking the regular-season series from Quinnipiac.
- The Bobcats avenged the series loss, defeating the Marist Red Foxes in the 2025 MAAC Tournament, 11-4, to end the Red Foxes' season.
SCOUTING THE RED FOXES
- The Marist Red Foxes enter the weekend series with an 11-19 overall record and an 11-4 record in MAAC play. All of Marist's wins this season have come in conference play, which has them in second place in the conference.
- Marist currently has the third-highest batting average (.276) in the MAAC with the fifth-most runs scored (191) this season. In conference play, the Red Foxes are hitting .303, which is good for second in the league.
- The Red Foxes' pitching staff holds the league's fifth-lowest ERA (4.11) throughout their 13 MAAC contests so far this season. Marist is 8th in the league, allowing 69 runs to score in their conference slate.
- Marist has won four of its five MAAC series so far this season, defeating Manhattan, Saint Peter's, Iona, and Siena, while dropping its lone series to Rider.
- Marist is coming off its series loss to the Rider Broncs last weekend (April 2-4). Rider opened the series with a 9-2 win before the Red Foxes bounced back in game two, defeating Rider 8-3. With the series on the line on Sunday, Marist fell to the Broncs by a final score of 9-3.
- Nathan Lincoln is one of three Red Foxes to appear in all 30 games so far this season and holds a .336 batting average. Kyle Pollack leads the team with a .338 batting average in 24 appearances this season. Noel Rivera and TJ Baer are tied for the team lead with four home runs, while Lincoln leads the squad with 29 RBIs this season.
- Marist has sent eight pitchers out to start contests this season, and Steven Mazza leads them with a 3.73 ERA in seven starts (eight appearances). Mazza holds a 1.76 WHIP in 31.1 innings pitched this season.

PRESEASON ACCOLADES
- The Quinnipiac Baseball team was picked to finish 3rd in the MAAC Preseason Poll after last season ended in the MAAC Semifinal round against the Rider Broncs.
- Christian Smith was named to the Preseason All-MAAC team as he returns to Hamden.
- Smith finished the year with a .329 batting average in 56 contests. Smith tied for the team lead in home runs with 15 and led the Bobcats with 67 runs batted in.
- Smith had a tremendous MAAC Tournament last season, finishing the week with a .375 clip (6-for-16), while driving in nine runs in the five games in Pomona, earning him a nod on the All-Tournament team.
KEY RETURNERS
- The Bobcats return 19 players from last year's team, with of those players seeing game action.
- Of those returners, nine are pitchers: J.C. Franconere, Sam Wright, Griffin Seibel, Mike Poncini, Matt Alduino, Nick Balcom, Andrew Rubayo, Josh Lajoie, and Mason Ulsh.
- Ten position players return: Cole Constable, Kyle Garbowski, Sam Ametrano, Christian Smith, Alex Irizarry, Luke Zeisloft, James Marino, Matt Park, Ian Nilsen, and Christian Nilsen.
LOTS OF NEW FACES
- Quinnipiac welcomes 16 new faces to its campus this season.
- The Bobcats used the transfer portal to bring in sophomore right-handed pitcher Maddex Labuda (Liberty), junior outfield/first baseman Jack Balcer (Widener), senior right-handed pitcher James Pazdera, and graduate outfielder Brendan Edvardsen (AIC).
- Quinnipiac also brought in 12 first years, with six being pitchers and six being position players, Peyton Vancas (Pleasant Gap, Pa.), Timothy Park (Bridgewater, NJ.), Chase Camac (Northfield, NJ.), Caden Williamson (Broomfield, Co.), Teagan Beames (New Fairfield, Conn.), Brayden Hromada (Center Moriches, NY.), Joseph Hiller (Center Moriches, NY.), Kevin Rusinak (Manalapan, NJ.), Ethan Freed (Limerick, Pa.), Frank Orrei (Verona, NJ.), Langdon Hazen (Underhill, VT.), and Jacob Belecky (Komoka, Ontario, Canada).

- After their series on the road at Marist, the Bobcats will go back on the road, taking on the Yale Bulldogs on April 15th, in New Haven, Connecticut.
