QU Drops Midweek Contest to URI

Kingston, Rhode Island – The Quinnipiac Bobcats dropped their midweek, non-conference contest, 9-2, to the Rhode Island Rams on Wednesday, April 8th, from Bill Beck Field. With the loss, the Bobcats will fall to 13-17 overall on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rhode Island Rams opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning, scoring two runs in the frame. Paul Calandrelli scored the first run of the contest, coming home on a wild pitch to get the scoring started. Reece Moroney later came in to score on a groundout, making it a 2-0 game.
Rhode Island exploded for seven runs in the third inning, taking a nine-run lead. Rhode Island brought home seven runs on six hits in the inning.
The Rams shut down the Bobcats' offense until the ninth inning when the Bobcats brought home two runs. Luke Zeisloft brought home QU's first run of the contest on an RBI single down the right field line, scoring Ian Nilsen from second. The next batter, Caden Williamson, reached on a throwing error, allowing Brayden Hromada to score to make it a 9-2 game. Rhode Island would secure the final out in the inning to take the midweek contest, 9-2.
