Bobcats Split Doubleheader, Take Series Over Mount St. Mary’s

EMMITSBURG, MD – The Quinnipiac softball team split Sunday's doubleheader against Mount St. Mary's, securing a 2-1 series victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
Mount St. Mary's struck first with an RBI single in the opening inning, but Quinnipiac responded in the second. Kinsley Cox reached on a two-out single to help load the bases before Aryn Bombery drew a walk to bring home Mac Davis and tie the game. The Bobcats took the lead shortly after on a Mountaineers fielding error.
Quinnipiac added insurance in the sixth, scoring three runs behind a two-run double from Mary Fogg and an RBI groundout by Sofia Vega.
Laney Adie earned her sixth collegiate win, tossing a complete game while allowing one run on eight hits and striking out one.
Game Two
Mount St. Mary's capitalized on four Quinnipiac errors to plate three runs across the first two innings.
The Bobcats responded in the third, as Riley Potter singled and Mary Fogg came around to score on a throwing error. Kennedy DeMott followed with an RBI single to cut the deficit to one.
Quinnipiac tied the game in the fourth on an RBI single from Mary Fogg, but the Mountaineers answered late with a walk-off single to take the series finale.
