Vancas Delivers Game-Winning Hit Against the Mount

Hamden, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats got back in the win column with a 4-3 victory over the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers in ten innings. Peyton Vancas delivered the game-winning single to get the Bobcats to a 19-22 overall record and a 10-10 conference record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Chase Camac opened the scoring for the Bobcats, delivering with an RBI single to left field to score Alex Irizarry with the game's first run.
Two innings later, James Marino came through with a two-run single up the middle to make it a three-run lead for the Bobcats.
The contest would remain 3-0 until the Mountaineers came up to bat in the seventh inning. Alex Mendes singled on a bunt to the third baseman, scoring two runs on the play to cut the deficit to one.
In the next inning, Mount St. Mary's used a pinch-hitter, bringing Sam Meyer to the plate, and he launched a solo homer to knot the contest up at three.
Nine innings were not enough in this one as the game was sent to the tenth inning. Matt Alduino shut the door on the Mountaineers in the top half of the inning, and Peyton Vancas delivered with an RBI single to center to walk it off for the Bobcats.

- Eight Bobcats recorded at least one hit in the extra-inning victory over the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers.
- Jack Balcer recorded multiple hits for the second straight game and the 16th time this season.
- Cole Constable went 2-for-4 at the plate and recorded his third double of the season.
- Peyton Vancas came up clutch in the tenth inning, recording the game-winning hit, his lone hit of the contest. Vancas now ranks fourth on the team with 24 RBIs this season.
- James Marino picked up two more RBIs with his single in the fourth inning, giving him 29 on the season.
- Chase Camac recorded an RBI on his lone hit of the contest, giving him 18 RBIs in his first collegiate season.
- Alex Irizarry went 1-for-2 in the contest with two runs scored. Irizarry leads the team with 31 runs scored this year.
- Andrew Rubayo was solid once again, going 6.2 innings, allowing just two runs on seven hits and striking out seven.
- Matt Alduino earned his third win of the season after pitching the final three innings, allowing just one run and striking out two.
