Hamden, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team returns to conference play with a three-game set against the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers in Hamden. The Bobcats and Mountaineers are set to begin the series on Friday, April 24^th, with the first pitch slated for 3 PM.

The next two games are slated for 1 PM start times on both Saturday, April 25^th, and Sunday, April 26^th.

LAST TIME OUT

The Quinnipiac Bobcats returned to Hamden and defended their home field, defeating the CCSU Blue Devils, 10-3, on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 18-21 overall and extended their win streak to four.
Quinnipiac has scored 10+ runs in eight contests this season and is 8-0 in those contests.
Eight Bobcats recorded at least one hit in the win over CCSU. Three of those Bobcats recorded at least two hits in the win.

HISTORY VS. MOUNT ST. MARY'S

Friday's matchup will mark the 53^rd time the Bobcats and Mountaineers will face off since April 29^th, 2001.
Quinnipiac leads the all-time series, 28-24.
Last season, the Mountaineers defeated the Bobcats in a three-game series in Emmitsburg. The Mountaineers took games one and three of the series, while the Bobcats won game two, 17-11.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS

The Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers will enter the weekend series with a 17-20 overall record and a 10-11 conference record. The Mountaineers enter the weekend in ninth place in the MAAC standings.
Mount St. Mary's currently has the third-highest batting average (.275) in the conference, and the fourth-most runs scored (245) this season. In conference play, the Mountaineers are hitting .272 in twenty contests, which ranks fifth in the league.
The Mountaineers' pitching staff holds the league's fourth-highest ERA (5.52) this season, and the sixth-most runs allowed (114).
Mount St. Mary's has won three MAAC series this season, defeating Canisius, Sacred Heart, and Saint Peter's. The Mountaineers have dropped their series against Iona, Rider, Siena, and Fairfield.
The Mountaineers have lost their last five games and are coming off a midweek loss against the University of Maryland, 19-8.

PRESEASON ACCOLADES

The Quinnipiac Baseball team was picked to finish 3^rd in the MAAC Preseason Poll after last season ended in the MAAC Semifinal round against the Rider Broncs.
Christian Smith was named to the Preseason All-MAAC team as he returns to Hamden.
Smith finished the year with a .329 batting average in 56 contests. Smith tied for the team lead in home runs with 15 and led the Bobcats with 67 runs batted in.
Smith had a tremendous MAAC Tournament last season, finishing the week with a .375 clip (6-for-16), while driving in nine runs in the five games in Pomona, earning him a nod on the All-Tournament team.

KEY RETURNERS

The Bobcats return 19 players from last year's team, with of those players seeing game action.
Of those returners, nine are pitchers: J.C. Franconere, Sam Wright, Griffin Seibel, Mike Poncini, Matt Alduino, Nick Balcom, Andrew Rubayo, Josh Lajoie, and Mason Ulsh.
Ten position players return: Cole Constable, Kyle Garbowski, Sam Ametrano, Christian Smith, Alex Irizarry, Luke Zeisloft, James Marino, Matt Park, Ian Nilsen, and Christian Nilsen.

LOTS OF NEW FACES

Quinnipiac welcomes 16 new faces to its campus this season.
The Bobcats used the transfer portal to bring in sophomore right-handed pitcher Maddex Labuda (Liberty), junior outfield/first baseman Jack Balcer (Widener), senior right-handed pitcher James Pazdera, and graduate outfielder Brendan Edvardsen (AIC).
Quinnipiac also brought in 12 first years, with six being pitchers and six being position players, Peyton Vancas (Pleasant Gap, Pa.), Timothy Park (Bridgewater, NJ.), Chase Camac (Northfield, NJ.), Caden Williamson (Broomfield, Co.), Teagan Beames (New Fairfield, Conn.), Brayden Hromada (Center Moriches, NY.), Joseph Hiller (Center Moriches, NY.), Kevin Rusinak (Manalapan, NJ.), Ethan Freed (Limerick, Pa.), Frank Orrei (Verona, NJ.), Langdon Hazen (Underhill, VT.), and Jacob Belecky (Komoka, Ontario, Canada).

NEXT TIME OUT

The Bobcats will kick off May with a three-game set in Hamden against the Fairfield Stags (May 1-3).
