Hamden, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats returned to Hamden and defended their home field, defeating the CCSU Blue Devils, 10-3, on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 18-21 overall and extended their win streak to four.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Central Connecticut got on the board first in the opening inning as Frankie Ferrentino singled home a run to give the Blue Devils the early lead.

The Bobcats knotted the game up at one as Caden Williamson grounded out and allowed Chase Camac to come home with the game-tying run in the third inning.

Quinnipiac was able to take its first lead of the game with a four-run fourth inning. Peyton Vancas put the Bobcats in front with an RBI single to left center, scoring Ian Nilsen. Later in the inning, Caden Williamson brought home two more runs with a two-run double to score Chase Camac and Peyton Vancas. Caden Williamson came around with Quinnipiac's fifth run of the game on a Kyle Garbowski single to give the Bobcats a four-run lead.

Quinnipiac tacked on another two runs in the fifth inning to make it a 7-1 ballgame. Chase Camac brought home Alex Irizarry for Quinnipiac's sixth run of the game with a single to right field. Vancas came through again, singling home Camac to make it a six-run ballgame.

The Blue Devils got two runs back on a two-run home run in the sixth inning to make it a four-run game.

Kyle Garbowski immediately answered for the Bobcats in the bottom half of the sixth, pushing the Quinnipiac lead back to five.

The Bobcats got some insurance in the eighth inning to put the game out of reach. Jack Balcer singled home Garbowski to make it a 9-3 game, and James Marino drew a bases-loaded walk to make it a 10-3 game.

Langdon Hazen pitched a scoreless ninth inning and struck out three to seal the win for the Bobcats.

NEWS AND NOTES

The Bobcats exploded for 10 runs on 12 hits, while allowing three runs on nine hits.
Quinnipiac has scored 10+ runs in eight contests this season and are 8-0 in those contests.
Eight Bobcats recorded at least one hit in the win over CCSU. Three of those Bobcats recorded at least two hits in the win.
Peyton Vancas had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Vancas is hitting .282 with 22 RBIs in his first season as a Bobcat.
Chase Camac picked up three hits in four at-bats, raising his batting average to .272 in his first collegiate season.
Caden Williamson drove in three runs while recording one hit in the effort. Williamson is up to 16 RBIs in his first season as a Bobcat.
Kyle Garbowski went 2-for-4 at the dish with two RBIs. Garbowski launched his third home run of the season and has recorded 27 RBIs in his junior season.
Jack Balcer and James Marino each picked up a hit and an RBI in the win over the Blue Devils.
Cole Constable and Alex Irizarry picked up the other hits in the win for the Bobcats.
Kevin Rusinak went the first four innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out three.
Josh Lajoie pitched three innings in relief and struck out four. Lajoie has recorded 11 strikeouts in 11.1 innings pitched.
Teagan Beames and Langdon Hazen each pitched a hitless inning in relief to help the Bobcats earn their fourth straight win.
