Hamden, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team returns to action for a pair of non-conference contests before returning to conference play this weekend. The Bobcats will make the short trip to West Haven on Tuesday to take on the New Haven Chargers at 3 PM.
After the short trip to West Haven, the Bobcats will return home on Wednesday, as they welcome the CCSU Blue Devils to Hamden for a 3 PM first pitch.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Quinnipiac baseball team picked up its second MAAC series win of the season, defeating the Canisius Golden Griffins, two games to one.
- In game one of the doubleheader on Friday, the Golden Griffins defeated the Bobcats by a final score of 10-3.
- Quinnipiac bounced back in game two of the doubleheader, defeating Canisius, 3-0. Three different Bobcats recorded an RBI in the win, and Andrew Rubayo pitched six innings, striking out eight.
- In the series finale, the Bobcats defeated Canisius, 12-2 in seven innings of play. Jack Balcer paced the offense with two home runs and four RBIs, while Nick Balcom pitched six innings, allowing just two earned runs and striking out eight.
HISTORY VS. NEW HAVEN
- Tuesday's matchup will mark the 90th time the Bobcats and Chargers will face off since May 7th, 1963.
- New Haven leads the all-time series, 65-24.
- The last time the two teams faced off was April 6th, 1998, when the Bobcats defeated the Chargers, 13-10.
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS
- The New Haven Chargers enter the midweek contest with a 6-25 overall record and a 5-13 mark in conference play.
- New Haven currently has the seventh-highest batting average (.276) in the conference, and the eleventh-most runs scored (168) this season. In conference play, the Chargers are hitting .292 in eighteen contests, which ranks seventh in the league.
- The Chargers' pitching staff holds the league's second-highest ERA (11.03) this season, with the fourth most runs allowed (352).
- New Haven has won just one series this season, taking two out of three against Wagner. The Chargers have won one midweek contest, defeating the University of Bridgeport, 12-4.
- The Chargers are coming off a weekend series at Norfolk State, where they took the series finale by a score of 15-4.

- Wednesday's matchup will mark the 66th time the Bobcats and Blue Devils will face off since March 31st, 2001.

SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS
- Central Connecticut enters the new week with a 12-17 overall record and a 10-11 mark in NEC play.
- CCSU currently has the fifth-highest batting average (.283) in the conference, and the eighth-most runs scored (208) this season. In conference play, the Blue Devils are hitting .307 in 21 contests, which ranks fifth in the league.
- The CCSU pitching staff holds the league's seventh-lowest ERA (7.33) throughout their 21 NEC contests so far this season. Central Connecticut allows the third-most runs throughout conference play (179).
- CCSU has won two weekend series this season, defeating UMES and Delaware State. CCSU's last midweek win came against Sacred Heart, 12-8, back on March 31st.
- The Blue Devils are coming off a series sweep over Delaware State and will battle UMass in a midweek contest on Tuesday before coming to Hamden.

PRESEASON ACCOLADES
- The Quinnipiac Baseball team was picked to finish 3rd in the MAAC Preseason Poll after last season ended in the MAAC Semifinal round against the Rider Broncs.
- Christian Smith was named to the Preseason All-MAAC team as he returns to Hamden.
- Smith finished the year with a .329 batting average in 56 contests. Smith tied for the team lead in home runs with 15 and led the Bobcats with 67 runs batted in.
- Smith had a tremendous MAAC Tournament last season, finishing the week with a .375 clip (6-for-16), while driving in nine runs in the five games in Pomona, earning him a nod on the All-Tournament team.
KEY RETURNERS
- The Bobcats return 19 players from last year's team, with of those players seeing game action.
- Of those returners, nine are pitchers: J.C. Franconere, Sam Wright, Griffin Seibel, Mike Poncini, Matt Alduino, Nick Balcom, Andrew Rubayo, Josh Lajoie, and Mason Ulsh.
- Ten position players return: Cole Constable, Kyle Garbowski, Sam Ametrano, Christian Smith, Alex Irizarry, Luke Zeisloft, James Marino, Matt Park, Ian Nilsen, and Christian Nilsen.
LOTS OF NEW FACES
- Quinnipiac welcomes 16 new faces to its campus this season.
- The Bobcats used the transfer portal to bring in sophomore right-handed pitcher Maddex Labuda (Liberty), junior outfield/first baseman Jack Balcer (Widener), senior right-handed pitcher James Pazdera, and graduate outfielder Brendan Edvardsen (AIC).
- Quinnipiac also brought in 12 first years, with six being pitchers and six being position players, Peyton Vancas (Pleasant Gap, Pa.), Timothy Park (Bridgewater, NJ.), Chase Camac (Northfield, NJ.), Caden Williamson (Broomfield, Co.), Teagan Beames (New Fairfield, Conn.), Brayden Hromada (Center Moriches, NY.), Joseph Hiller (Center Moriches, NY.), Kevin Rusinak (Manalapan, NJ.), Ethan Freed (Limerick, Pa.), Frank Orrei (Verona, NJ.), Langdon Hazen (Underhill, VT.), and Jacob Belecky (Komoka, Ontario, Canada).

- The Bobcats will return to MAAC play this weekend as they host the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers for a three-game series. The series will kick off on Friday, April 24th, at 3 PM.
