HOW IT HAPPENED
Quinnipiac got on the board first in the opening inning as James Marino got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Caden Williamson from third. Saint Peter's responded with a run in the bottom of the first and then took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
The Bobcats retook the lead in the third inning, scoring three runs in the inning. Chase Camac got the scoring started, lacing a two-run double to left field to give QU a 3-2 lead. Cole Constable stepped in next and singled on a bunt down the third base line and advanced on a throwing error as Camac scored to make it 4-2 Bobcats.
Peyton Vancas made it a three-run game in the sixth inning as he flew out to right field, allowing Christian Smith to come in with QU's fifth run of the contest. The Peacocks responded with two runs in their half of the inning to cut their deficit to one.
Christian Smith made it a three-run game once again as he reached on an error, allowing Williamson and Constable to come in and score. Saint Peter's had the answer again, hitting a two-run home run in the seventh to make it a one-run game.
In the eighth inning, Cole Constable made it a two-run game, doubling home Chase Camac to make it 8-6. Matt Alduino came on to pitch in the ninth as he sealed the win and earned his third save of the season.
NEWS AND NOTES
- Six different Bobcats recorded hits in the win over Saint Peter's in game two. Four of those Bobcats recorded multiple hits in the win.
- Jack Balcer went 3-for-6 at the plate as he extended his hit streak to three games. Balcer's batting average is now at .330, which is the best on the team.
- Christian Smith picked up another multi-hit effort, recording two hits in the win. Smith has recorded 2+ hits in seven games this season and three straight.
- After missing eight games, Smith has recorded a hit in seven of the last eight games he has appeared in.
