HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team will take on the Saint Peter's Peacocks in a three-game set as they return to MAAC play. The series will kick off on Friday, March 27th, with the first pitch slated for 3 PM from Jaroschak Field.
Quinnipiac and Saint Peter's are slated for 1 PM starts on both Saturday and Sunday as they wrap up the series in Jersey City.

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team will take on the Saint Peter's Peacocks in a three-game set as they return to MAAC play. The series will kick off on Friday, March 27th, with the first pitch slated for 3 PM from Jaroschak Field.
Quinnipiac and Saint Peter's are slated for 1 PM starts on both Saturday and Sunday as they wrap up the series in Jersey City.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Bobcats got back in the win column, defeating the UConn Huskies, 8-3, in Storrs, Connecticut.
- Quinnipiac jumped out to the lead as Alex Irizarry launched a three-run home run in the third inning. The Bobcats added to their lead in the seventh and eighth, scoring five runs across the two innings to help seal the win over UConn.
- Christian Smith and Alex Irizarry both drove in three runs in the win, while also launching a home run each.
- Joseph Hiller got the start and went 4.0 innings, allowing just one run on four hits, while striking out five.
- Four came out of the bullpen to close the deal as Josh Lajoie, J.c. Franconere, Nick Balcom, and Matt Alduino pitched the final five innings, allowing three hits and striking out five.
HISTORY VS. SAINT PETER'S
- Friday's matchup will mark the 24th time the Bobcats and Peacocks will face off since April 19th, 2014.
- Quinnipiac leads the all-time series, 20-3.
- The two teams last faced off in the 2024 season, and the Bobcats took two out of three games.
- Quinnipiac dropped the series opener, 7-4, before bouncing back with a 10-3 win and closing out the series with a 9-4 win in Connecticut.
SCOUTING THE PEACOCKS
- The Saint Peter's Peacocks hold a 2-19 overall record and a 0-6 conference record so far this season. Saint Peter's currently sits in 13th place in the MAAC standings.
- The Peacocks' only two wins this year have come against NJIT (4-2 in 10 innings) and Lehigh (12-3).
- This week, the Peacocks dropped both of their non-conference contests, falling to Army, 9-4, and La Salle, 16-15.
- Last time out, the Peacocks were outlasted by La Salle, 16-15, in an offensive showdown. Louis D'Alessio and Steve Polizzi combined for seven RBIs in the loss.
- Bobby Lavely leads the Saint Peter's offense with a .295 batting average in 18 games played this season. Lavely has hit four home runs this season and has recorded just nine RBIs.
- Among the six different starters for the Peacocks' pitching staff, James Ellis leads the staff with a 4.38 ERA in 24.2 innings pitched. Ellis has allowed 12 earned runs this season and has struck out 14 batters.

PRESEASON ACCOLADES
- The Quinnipiac Baseball team was picked to finish 3rd in the MAAC Preseason Poll after last season ended in the MAAC Semifinal round against the Rider Broncs.
- Christian Smith was named to the Preseason All-MAAC team as he returns to Hamden.
- Smith finished the year with a .329 batting average in 56 contests. Smith tied for the team lead in home runs with 15 and led the Bobcats with 67 runs batted in.
- Smith had a tremendous MAAC Tournament last season, finishing the week with a .375 clip (6-for-16), while driving in nine runs in the five games in Pomona, earning him a nod on the All-Tournament team.
KEY RETURNERS
- The Bobcats return 19 players from last year's team, with of those players seeing game action.
- Of those returners, nine are pitchers: J.C. Franconere, Sam Wright, Griffin Seibel, Mike Poncini, Matt Alduino, Nick Balcom, Andrew Rubayo, Josh Lajoie, and Mason Ulsh.
- Ten position players return: Cole Constable, Kyle Garbowski, Sam Ametrano, Christian Smith, Alex Irizarry, Luke Zeisloft, James Marino, Matt Park, Ian Nilsen, and Christian Nilsen.
LOTS OF NEW FACES
- Quinnipiac welcomes 16 new faces to its campus this season.
- The Bobcats used the transfer portal to bring in sophomore right-handed pitcher Maddex Labuda (Liberty), junior outfield/first baseman Jack Balcer (Widener), senior right-handed pitcher James Pazdera, and graduate outfielder Brendan Edvardsen (AIC).
- Quinnipiac also brought in 12 first years, with six being pitchers and six being position players, Peyton Vancas (Pleasant Gap, Pa.), Timothy Park (Bridgewater, NJ.), Chase Camac (Northfield, NJ.), Caden Williamson (Broomfield, Co.), Teagan Beames (New Fairfield, Conn.), Brayden Hromada (Center Moriches, NY.), Joseph Hiller (Center Moriches, NY.), Kevin Rusinak (Manalapan, NJ.), Ethan Freed (Limerick, Pa.), Frank Orrei (Verona, NJ.), Langdon Hazen (Underhill, VT.), and Jacob Belecky (Komoka, Ontario, Canada).
