HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats got the scoring started early in this one, striking for two runs before the Peacocks had a turn to bat. Alex Irizarry brought home the game's first run, singling home Kyle Garbowski. Jack Balcer stepped in as the next batter and immediately doubled Quinnipiac's lead as he flew out, allowing Christian Smith to come home to score.
Sam Wright held the Peacocks hitless for the first three innings, but Saint Peter's got their first hit and run on the same swing, as Alex Manent hit a solo home run. In the next inning, Saint Peter's was able to score three runs, taking a 4-2 lead into the sixth inning.
Christian Smith got the sixth inning started with a solo home run, bringing the Bobcats within one run. Later in the inning, James Marino came in to tie the game as Matt Park got caught in a rundown between first and second.
The Bobcats came back up in the seventh, tied at four, and were looking to change that. Christian Smith came through once again, singling home Cole Constable to make it a 5-4 game in Quinnipiac's favor.
Quinnipiac tacked on to its lead in the eighth inning, scoring three more runs. Chase Camac brought home the sixth run of the contest on an RBI groundout. Later in the inning, Matt Park came in to score on another groundout as Quinnipiac extended its lead to three. Kyle Garbowski made it a four-run game as he reached on an infield single, while Constable came in to score.
Nick Balcom, J.c. Franconere and Matt Alduino sealed the win, combining for the final nine outs to help earn the series sweep for the Bobcats.
