Bobcats Drop 2OT Heartbreaker to Niagara

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse program fell in a double-overtime contest on Saturday afternoon, as Niagara scored seven seconds into the second extra-time session to knock off the host Bobcats 14-13.
Mia Delmond scored the first two of the game to put the Bobcats ahead in the first 5:43, two of her three on the afternoon.
The two teams traded three-goal runs, with the host Bobcats taking a 5-3 lead into the halftime break with goals from Cate Bendowski, Emma Miller-Ayala and Brie Provenzano.
Quinnipiac grew its lead to four in the early portions of the fourth quarter, with Julia Givens making it 11-7 with 14:12 to go in regulation.
Niagara rattled off six of the next seven goals to take a one-goal lead with 2:04 to go but Miller-Ayala potted the tying goal with 53 seconds to play.
After both teams' goalies recorded a pair of stops in the first extra session, Maive Partlow scored to give Niagara the road victory.

The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse program continues league play on Wednesday afternoon when they take on Canisius at 3:00 p.m., in Buffalo, N.Y.

- Bendowski has recorded four or more points in six consecutive contests, finishing with a goal and tying her career-best with four assists.
- Julia Givens matched her season-high with four goals, reaching the 20-goal mark on the season.
- Miller-Ayala finished with her fourth hat trick in seven outings. She also had five draw controls, matching her second-highest total of the season.
- Provenzano increased her streak of multi-point games to eight, finishing with a goal and an assist.
- Anna Givens' three draw controls match her season-high.
- Mia Delmond has 13 goals in her last three games after recording four today. She also has 16 points during that span.
