HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team will play a pair of non-conference contests to continue its campaign. Quinnipiac will head to New Britain to take on Central Connecticut for a 3 PM contest on Tuesday, March 17th.
The Bobcats will then turn around and head back to Hamden to take on the Yale Bulldogs on Wednesday, March 18th, with the first pitch slated for 2 PM from the Quinnipiac Baseball Field.

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team will play a pair of non-conference contests to continue its campaign. Quinnipiac will head to New Britain to take on Central Connecticut for a 3 PM contest on Tuesday, March 17th.
The Bobcats will then turn around and head back to Hamden to take on the Yale Bulldogs on Wednesday, March 18th, with the first pitch slated for 2 PM from the Quinnipiac Baseball Field.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Bobcats dropped their first conference season of the year, falling to the Sacred Heart Pioneers, two games to one.
- Sacred Heart defeated the Bobcats 9-8 in the series opener, before clinching the series victory with a 10-4 win in game two.
- Quinnipiac avoided the sweep, earning a 10-2 win on Sunday. Brendan Edvardsen capped off a seven-run first inning with a grand slam, powering the Bobcats to their first MAAC win of the season.
HISTORY VS. CENTRAL CONNECTICUT
- Tuesday's matchup will mark the 66th time the Bobcats and Blue Devils will face off since March 31st, 2001.
- Central Connecticut leads the all-time series, 41-24.
- The Bobcats have won five straight contests against CCSU, with their most recent victory coming last season (April 19, 2025), 11-10, in Hamden.
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS
- The Blue Devils hold a 5-5 overall record and a 4-2 conference record so far this season.
- Last time out, the Blue Devils took one game out of three against Norfolk State down in Virginia. CCSU took the middle game of the series, 10-5, before falling in the series finale, 6-5.
- Chris Barkasy leads the Blue Devils offense with a .440 batting average in nine contests this season.
- Among the four different starters for the CCSU pitching staff, Kyle Salvati holds the lowest ERA among them (3.60).
HISTORY VS. YALE
- Wednesday's matchup will mark the 20th time the Bobcats and Bulldogs will face off since March 11th, 2001.
- Yale leads the all-time series, 11-8.
- The Bobcats and Bulldogs split last season's series, with the home team winning each contest.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- The Bulldogs hold an 8-5 overall record and have yet to play a contest in IVY league play.
- Last time out, the Bulldogs took two out of three from UAlbany at home in New Haven. Yale dropped game one, 4-2 in 13 innings, before winning the next two games to win the series.
- Garrett Larsen is one of five Bulldogs to start each game this season and leads the team with a .392 batting average. Larsen also leads the team with eight stolen bases in ten attempts.
- Among the five starters for the Bulldog pitching staff, Jack Ohman leads the team with a 1.53 ERA. Ohman has struck out 25 in 17.2 innings pitched so far this season.

PRESEASON ACCOLADES
- The Quinnipiac Baseball team was picked to finish 3rd in the MAAC Preseason Poll after last season ended in the MAAC Semifinal round against the Rider Broncs.
- Christian Smith was named to the Preseason All-MAAC team as he returns to Hamden.
- Smith finished the year with a .329 batting average in 56 contests. Smith tied for the team lead in home runs with 15 and led the Bobcats with 67 runs batted in.
- Smith had a tremendous MAAC Tournament last season, finishing the week with a .375 clip (6-for-16), while driving in nine runs in the five games in Pomona, earning him a nod on the All-Tournament team.
KEY RETURNERS
- The Bobcats return 19 players from last year's team, with of those players seeing game action.
- Of those returners, nine are pitchers: J.C. Franconere, Sam Wright, Griffin Seibel, Mike Poncini, Matt Alduino, Nick Balcom, Andrew Rubayo, Josh Lajoie, and Mason Ulsh.
- Ten position players return: Cole Constable, Kyle Garbowski, Sam Ametrano, Christian Smith, Alex Irizarry, Luke Zeisloft, James Marino, Matt Park, Ian Nilsen, and Christian Nilsen.
LOTS OF NEW FACES
- Quinnipiac welcomes 16 new faces to its campus this season.
- The Bobcats used the transfer portal to bring in sophomore right-handed pitcher Maddex Labuda (Liberty), junior outfield/first baseman Jack Balcer (Widener), senior right-handed pitcher James Pazdera, and graduate outfielder Brendan Edvardsen (AIC).
- Quinnipiac also brought in 12 first years, with six being pitchers and six being position players, Peyton Vancas (Pleasant Gap, Pa.), Timothy Park (Bridgewater, NJ.), Chase Camac (Northfield, NJ.), Caden Williamson (Broomfield, Co.), Teagan Beames (New Fairfield, Conn.), Brayden Hromada (Center Moriches, NY.), Joseph Hiller (Center Moriches, NY.), Kevin Rusinak (Manalapan, NJ.), Ethan Freed (Limerick, Pa.), Frank Orrei (Verona, NJ.), Langdon Hazen (Underhill, VT.), and Jacob Belecky (Komoka, Ontario, Canada).

- The Bobcats will return to MAAC play, taking on the Manhattan Jaspers in a three-game set.
