
Bobcats Sweep Day One, Down Saint Francis & Hampton

HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Francis started game one with two runs in the top of the opening inning, but the Bobcats quickly responded in the bottom half.
Mary Fogg hit a leadoff double before Natalia Apatiga brought home QU's first run on a sac fly. With two outs, Ally Hochstadter and Kennedy Demott recorded back-to-back singles to keep the inning alive. Sofia Vega followed with a two-run single to give the Bobcats the lead, and Aryn Bombery finished the inning with an RBI double.
Bombery was hot at the plate, finishing a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI. The sophomore added an RBI single and another RBI double later in the game.
First-year Laney Adie entered in relief in the third inning with two runners on and no outs. Adie recorded back-to-back strikeouts to escape the jam and went on to earn her first collegiate win. Adie pitched four innings, allowing two hits and three earned runs while striking out a career-high six batters.
Quinnipiac recorded a four-run seventh inning to secure the 14-6 run-rule victory.
After four scoreless innings in game two, Kinsley Cox broke through with the first hit of the game for the Bobcats. Quinnipiac's offense came alive in the fifth, as Noelle Reid and Mary Fogg delivered back-to-back singles to help spark a four-run inning and a 4-0 lead.
The Bobcats added an insurance run in the sixth when Cox scored on a wild pitch.
Hampton scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn't make the comeback.
Shannon Kendall earned her second win of the season, pitching a complete game. She allowed six hits and two earned runs while recording two strikeouts.
