Hofstra Downs Quinnipiac in Season Opener in Hamden
2/14/2026 3:34:00 PM | Women's Lacrosse
HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse program opened its season strong but a strong second half propelled Hofstra to the 12-7 victory on Saturday afternoon in Hamden.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 5-3 halftime lead, helped by a balanced attack of five different goalscorers, including the first connection of the Givens sisters, with Julia scoring on a feed from Anna.
The younger sister also had a highlight-reel twizzler goal to end a three-point half for the 2025 MAAC All-Rookie selection.
Hofstra came out strong in the second half, however. They outshot the Bobcats 10-3 in the third quarter, turning that deficit into a 9-6 lead and they were able to maintain control.
