HOW IT HAPPENED
ODU got on the board first in the opening inning thanks to a two-run double with two outs in the inning.
Quinnipiac answered in the third inning, scoring three runs in the third inning. Caden Williamson recorded his first collegiate hit and drove home Chase Camac with QU's first run of the year. Later in the inning, Caden Williamson stole second, and Luke Zeisloft crossed the plate on the throw down to even the game at two. With one out in the inning, Matt Park recorded his first collegiate hit and RBI, driving in Williamson and giving QU a 3-2 lead.
Old Dominion would score ten unanswered runs (four in the fourth and six in the fifth) to take back control of the contest.
With the Monarchs leading 12-3, Jack Balcer stepped up to the dish and drove in Christian Smith for his first RBI as a Bobcat.
ODU responded in their half of the sixth with two more runs, making it a 14-4 game. After Old Dominion scored another run in the eighth to make it 15-4, Christian Smith doubled home Cole Constable with QU's fifth run, but that was all as ODU closed out the Season Opener with a 15-5 win.
