HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
Christian Smith got the Bobcats on the board in the opening inning, singling home Chase Camac for the game's first run.
Old Dominion answered with six runs in the first three innings, taking a 6-1 lead. After a scoreless fourth, the Monarchs exploded for seven runs in the fifth inning to make it a 13-1 game.
Quinnipiac got a run back in the sixth as Brendan Edvardsen singled to third and Peyton Vancas scored on a throwing error.
ODU made it a 15-2 game in the bottom half of the sixth, and the Bobcats scored three in the seventh, but the contest would end after that with the Monarchs winning 15-5 in seven innings.
Game Two
Quinnipiac struck first in the second straight game as Jack Balcer brought home Kyle Garbowski on a sacrifice fly. An inning later, Alex Irizarry made it a 2-0 game as he singled home Caden Williamson.
Old Dominion bounced back with five straight runs as they took a 5-2 lead into the sixth inning. The Bobcats struck for two runs in the sixth inning to cut it to a one-run game. Jack Balcer drove home his second run of the contest, singling home Irizarry with QU's third run of the game. Later in the inning, Chase Camac singled home Kyle Garbowski to make it a 5-4 game.
In the seventh inning, Alex Irizarry reached on a fielding error, and Peyton Vancas scored to knot the game up at five.
The game would stay knotted at five until the tenth inning when Kyle Garbowski brought home Alex Irizarry on a sac fly to take the lead. Matt Alduino would shut the door in the bottom half of the tenth as QU won their first game of the season.
