COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Quinnipiac Women's Tennis team is preparing for their third NCAA tournament appearance in the last four seasons, heading back to Texas A&M where they lost in their last NCAA Tournament appearance.
The Bobcats enter the match having won 10 straight, including the MAAC Championship, defeating rival Fairfield 4-3. The Aggies are the defending national champions and the No. 2 overall seed with a 25-3 record. Texas A&M won the SEC Regular Season but fell 4-2 to No. 1 National seed Georgia in the SEC Championship match.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Quinnipiac Women's Tennis team is preparing for their third NCAA tournament appearance in the last four seasons, heading back to Texas A&M where they lost in their last NCAA Tournament appearance.
The Bobcats enter the match having won 10 straight, including the MAAC Championship, defeating rival Fairfield 4-3. The Aggies are the defending national champions and the No. 2 overall seed with a 25-3 record. Texas A&M won the SEC Regular Season but fell 4-2 to No. 1 National seed Georgia in the SEC Championship match.
QU WINS MAAC TITLE FOR EIGHTH TIME
- This past weekend QU won two matches at the MAAC Tournament to capture their record eighth MAAC Tournament Championship.
- In the semis, QU took care of business against the five seed in Siena, winning 4-0.
- In the championship match, the Bobcats defeated Fairfield in a 4-3 nail biter. Willow Renton played the hero, coming back from a set down at No. 1 singles to win her match 6-4 in the third set.
- Renton was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Performer.
- With the win, QU moves to 92-5 all time against MAAC opponents.
- Texas A&M enters the tournament 25-3 with their losses coming to No. 1 Georgia (twice), and No. 16 Vanderbilt.
- Their highest ranked player is Mary Stoiana, who is ranked No. 2 in the country and is from Southbury, Conn.
- They have three players ranked in the top 50 in ITA with Nicole Khirin (#13) and Lucciana Perez (#50).
- Stoiana and Perez are the 24th ranked doubles team in the country.
- Mark Weaver is the head coach of Texas A&M in his 10th season.
- On Thursday the MAAC announced its major awards for the year, naming Willow Renton Player and Rookie of the Year and Paula Miller as MAAC Coach of the Year.
- Renton gets the nod after going 7-1 at No. 1 singles and 8-0 at No. 1 doubles in conference play.
- Miller now has received MAAC Coach of the Year honors eight times.
- QU also placed four other Bobcats on All-MAAC squads.
- Renton was named to the All-MAAC First Team Singles as well as First Team Doubles with partner Caitlin Flower.
- Flower, Anagha Shankar, Vera Sekerina, and Caroline Schulson each were named to the All-MAAC Second Team for singles while Shankar and Sekerina were named to second team doubles.
- To end the regular season, the Bobcats defeated Fairfield 5-2 to finish the perfect regular season and clinch the outright MAAC Regular Season Championship for the 10th time.
- Willow Renton and Caitlin Flower completed a perfect 8-0 regular season at No. 1 doubles yet the Bobcats were not able to clinch the doubles point.
- Despite that, QU got five straight-sets singles wins from Renton, Flower, Anagha Shankar, Vera Sekerina, and Caroline Schulson to clinch the win.
- On Wednesday afternoon the MAAC announced that after going 4-0 this weekend, Willow Renton had won her third MAAC Player of the Week.
- Renton improved upon her 9-1 MAAC record, winning all four of her matches this weekend.
- She first teamed up with Caitlin Flower at No. 1 doubles on Saturday against Mount, winning 6-2. She dominated at No. 1 singles to defeat Mount's Tang 6-2, 6-0.
- Against Sacred Heart, she won her No. 1 doubles match with Flower 6-2 before coming from behind in her No. 1 singles match to defeat SHU's Bartyzel 3-6, 6-0, 6-3.
- In QU's dominant 5-0 win over Sacred Heart they were clinched a share of the MAAC regular season title, with a chance to win it outright win over Fairfield on Thursday morning.
- QU earned the win with doubles wins from Willow Renton / Caitlin Flower and Vera Sekerina / Anagha Shankar.
- In singles, Anagha Shankar, Caroline Schulson, and Jordan Bradley each won in straight sets while Willow Renton and Caitlin Flower won in three sets.
- QU took the doubles point with wins from Willow Renton / Caitlin Flower and Jordan Bradley / Caroline Schulson.
- The Bobcats then won four singles matches in rapid succession, with Renton, Flower, Shankar, and Bradley all winning in straight sets.
- QU won the doubles point with two dominant matches from Willow Renton / Caitlin Flower and Anagha Shankar / Vera Sekerina.
- They also got straight sets singles wins from Caitlin Flower, Anagha Shankar, and Caroline Schulson. Sekerina's opponent retired down 4-1 in the third set.
- Anagha Shankar and Vera Sekerina each won their sixth straight singles match, the longest active streaks on QU.
- Shankar, Vera Sekerina, and Caroline Schulson all moved to 5-0 in singles in MAAC play.
- First year Willow Renton was named MAAC Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
- This weekend she earned the recognition by going 4-0 with two singles wins and two dominant doubles wins with Caitlin Flower at the No.1 doubles position.
- Her and Flower defeated Merrimack's McLoughlin and Philips 6-1 and Rider's Brown and Naves 6-2. In singles, Renton defeated Merrimack's Thompson 6-2, 6-2 and Rider's Fishman 6-4, 6-2.
- QU defeated both Merrimack and Rider 7-0 this past weekend.
- Willow Renton, Anagha Shankar, Vera Sekerina, and Caroline Schulson all moved to 4-0 in singles in MAAC play.
- Anagha Shankar and Vera Sekerina have won five straight singles matches.
- Ella Lewis improved to 2-1 in MAAC play.
- Caitlin Flower and Willow Renton are on a four-match winning streak at No. 1 doubles.
- Willow Renton was the first Bobcat to be named MAAC Player of the Week this season after a 2-0 start to MAAC Play against Niagara.
- The Goshen, Ky. native won her No. 1 doubles match with Caitlin Flower, 6-2 over Niagara. She also had one of QU's four singles wins at the No. 1 spot, defeating Niagara's Melo, 7-6(5), 3-0, ret.
- The lone singles winner of the day was Anagha Shankar, taking her match at No. 3 singles in straight sets.
- Her and Vera Sekerina also took their doubles match 6-3 at the No. 2 position.
- The Bobcats fell 4-0 at Harvard a week ago.
- Caitlin Flower was the lone winner for the Bobcats in their 6-1 loss at UConn on Wednesday afternoon.
- Flower won in straight sets, only dropping four games.
- QU won its first home match of the season 7-0 over NJIT on Saturday, Jan. 25.
- Willow Renton and Anagha Shankar won their singles matches in three sets, while Caitlin Flower, Vera Sekerina, Caroline Schulson, and Ella Lewis won in straight sets.
- It was QU's first win over NJIT in program history, having lost to the Highlanders 7-0 on Mar. 6, 2022.
- The Bobcats fell 7-0 at Yale to open their spring season.
- This past fall at the ITA Regionals, the Bobcats won six matches.
- The doubles tandem of Willow Renton and Caitlin Flower advanced to the Round of 16 before falling.
- Renton also won her first round singles match.
- Willow Renton is coming off a very successful MAAC Masters tournament, reaching the semifinals in both singles and doubles brackets.
- She joined Caitlin Flower in the doubles semifinals bracket where they fell Sunday morning.
- The Bobcats won a combined 23 matches over the three days.
- Willow Renton went 8-0 between singles and doubles.
- Caitlin Flower went 6-2 over the course of the weekend.
- Against UConn, Willow Renton won her first match as a Bobcat against UConn, winning in straight sets. Caitlin Flower won her singles match in a third set tiebreaker
- The Bobcats took four matches against Saint Francis, with Anagha Shankar winning her singles match in a third set tiebreakers while Caroline Schulson and Vera Sekerina won their matches in straight sets. Isabella Sicignano also won her first match as a Bobcat, teaming up with Jordan Bradley in doubles.
- QU took 10 matches from Fairfield on Sunday of QU Hidden Duels.
- Quinnipiac women's tennis went 10-12, with a 5-1 MAAC record.
- The Bobcats fell in the MAAC Tournament Championship to regular season champions Fairfield 4-3.
- QU named three players to All-MAAC teams with Caitlin Flower getting the nod in singles and doubles with partner Caroline Schulson, while Dominique Yeo earned singles honors.
- QU has now won seven MAAC championships/advanced to the NCAA Tournament seven times since joining the league (2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2021-22, 2022-23) under Head Coach/Director of Tennis Paula Miller.
- Under the guidance of Head Coach Miller, the Bobcats have earned at least a share of the regular season MAAC title nine straight times since joining the MAAC in 2013-14. Miller has been named MAAC Coach of the Year seven times (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023). She has led Quinnipiac to six MAAC Tournament titles and six NCAA Tournament appearances (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022).
