HOW IT HAPPENED
Both sides were held scoreless until the Bobcats came up to bat in the top of the fourth inning. After Kyle Garbowski started the inning with a double, CJ Willis continued to dominate the Purple Eagles as he hit a two-run home run to put Quinnipiac in front.
After the Purple Eagles got a run back in their half of the fourth inning, the Bobcats went right back to work. With Gabe Wright on third base, Sean McCulloch flew out to left field, scoring Wright and making it a 3-1 lead for the Bobcats.
Niagara responded by tying the game at three in the bottom half of the fifth inning. Quinnipiac had a quick response yet again as they scored six runs in the sixth inning to break the game open. Alex Irizarry put the Bobcats in front as he reached on a fielding error, which allowed CJ Willis to come in and score. Christian Smith made it 5-3 as he singled to right field and scored Mueller. With the bases loaded, Gabe Wright launched a triple into the gap to clear the bases and give the Bobcats an 8-3 lead. Sean McCulloch would single home Wright to give Quinnipiac a six-run lead.
Niagara would score two runs in the 8th inning to make it 9-5, but that is the closest they would get as Quinnipiac completed the series sweep, their first over Niagara since the 2019 season.
