Bobcats Add Guards Nate Guerengomba & Asim Jones

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's basketball program has announced the signings of guards Nate Guerengomba (Washington, DC) and Asim Jones (Paterson, NJ), as revealed by Head Coach Tom Pecora and the Bobcats on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
Guerengomba will join the Bobcats after spending his freshman season at UMass, while Jones signs with Quinnipiac after spending 2024-25 at Florida International.
"We are very excited to add two very talented and experienced guards to our backcourt heading into 2025-26," Pecora said. "Both Nate and Asim are all about winning, and their team-first mindset will help us as we continue to compete for championships."
Nate Guerengomba | Washington, DC | 6-4 | Guard
Guerengomba joins the Bobcats after spending his first collegiate season at UMass.
He played in 29 contests this past season for the Minutemen, averaging 2.6 points and 1.2 rebounds per game. The Washington, DC-native and former South Kent standout scored a career-high 10 points against Florida State back on 11/24/24.
"Nate is a versatile guard that can affect the game in many different ways," Pecora said. "We're excited for him to arrive on campus this summer."
Guerengomba scored in 17 different contests at UMass last year, and grabbed multiple rebounds 10 times.
He signed with UMass as a three-star recruit after playing at South Kent with current Bobcat Amarri Monroe. He was ranked as a Top 40 small forward nationally and the No. 2 player from the D.C. metro area.
During his senior season at South Kent, Guerengomba recorded 17.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per contest on 40% shooting. He's a two-time All-NEPSAC AAA Selection (sophomore and senior seasons), as well as an All-NEBL honoree as a senior.
Asim Jones | Paterson, NJ | 6-2 | Guard
Jones will join Quinnipiac after spending his junior season at FIU, where he averaged 9.3 points, 2.4 rebounds & 2.2 assists per game in 2024-25. He shot 43.4% from the field at Florida International in just over 25 minutes per game.
"Asim is an athletic guard who can score, facilitate, and defend at a high level," Pecora said. "He will immediately improve our team on the floor."
The Paterson, NJ-native registered 10+ points in 15 different games this past season at FIU, including a 17-point performance in an opening round Conference USA Tournament win over Western Kentucky.
Before joining the Panthers, Jones spend two seasons at the College of Southern Idaho – where he helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 52-11 overall record. He helped lead CSI to its second-ever undefeated regular season record as a freshman. As a sophomore in 2023-24 at Southern Idaho, Jones averaged 17.5 points and 4.8 assists per game en route to an NJCAA Honorable Mention All American selection. He shot almost 50% from the field and 77% from the free throw line during his breakout sophomore campaign.

Guerengomba and Jones join Quinnipiac's list of newcomers ahead of 2025-26 that also includes: Keith McKnight (Teaneck, NJ), Jayden Reid (Cheshire, CT), and Tai Turnage (Bronx, NY).
Quinnipiac won its second consecutive MAAC regular season title in 2024-25. The Bobcats went 15-5 in league play during 2023-24 to earn the program's first-ever regular season championship, then QU posted another 15-5 league mark this past season to earn the top seed in the MAAC Tournament.
