HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team will head to Storrs, Connecticut to battle the UConn Huskies in the midweek, non-conference matchup. The first pitch from Elliot Ballpark is slated for 3:05 PM. This is the first matchup between the two teams since April 17th, 2017.
HISTORY VS. UCONN
- Tuesday's matchup will be the 18th time the two programs are facing off in their Division I history.
- The Huskies lead the series 12-5 and are 8-2 on their home field.
- The two teams last faced each other on April 17th, 2017 when the Huskies defeated the Bobcats 4-3 in Storrs.
- UConn will enter the matchup on Tuesday with an 11-15 overall record and a 1-2 record in Big East play.
- The Huskies are coming off their first series of Big East play and lost two out of three to the Xavier Musketeers.
- UConn dropped the opening game of the series 8-6 before evening the series on Saturday with a 9-4 win in game one of the doubleheader. The Musketeers took the series from the Huskies with a 10-7 win in the series finale.
- As of March 25th, Beau Root led the Huskies with a .372 batting average, having played in 15 games and started in nine. Root has nine RBIs on the season and has one home run and one double.

- Quinnipiac took the opening game of the series against Manhattan with a convincing 16-5 win. CJ Willis led the offense with five RBIs and hit his sixth home run of the season in the win.
- Manhattan took the middle game of the series with a 9-8 win as the Bobcats comeback fell short in the final inning.
- The Jaspers were able to take the series with a 5-4 win in the series finale on Sunday as they held the Bobcats to their least amount of runs scored since March 23rd.
- 17 – Quinnipiac steals the 17th most bases in the NCAA with 68, good for second in the MAAC.
- 25 – Christian Smith is 25th in the NCAA with 39 RBIs, which is also the most RBIs in the conference.
- 41 – As a team, the Bobcats have the 41st-best batting average in Division I (.308) and are one of two MAAC teams with a team batting average of .300 or higher.
- 50 – QU also ranks 50th in the NCAA with 229 total runs scored, leading the MAAC.

- Willis Drove in a season-high four RBIs in the win against UMass (5/1).

- Gabe Wright, Christian Smith, Kyle Garbowski, CJ Willis, Sebastian Mueller, and James Marino will be key returners on the offensive side of the plate.
- Jack Kabel, Ryan Hutchinson, Mike Poncini, Jack Gannon, Matt Alduino, and Andrew Rubayo will look to make an impact when they toe the rubber.

- Quinnipiac welcomes 16 new faces to their campus this season.
- The Bobcats used the transfer portal to fill the holes in their lineup, grabbing Sean McCulloch (Susquehanna), Johnny Knox (Nichols College), Alex Irizarry (Maryland), Josh Lajoie (Lipscomb), Ryan O'Connell (St. Bonaventure), Griffin Seibel (Xavier), Cole Constable (Maryland), Luke Zeisloft (Maryland), Jack Bryan (Trevecca Nazarene), and Nick Balcom (Finger Lakes Community College).
- Quinnipiac also brought in six first years, J.C. Franconere from Sparta, New Jersey, Samuel Wright from Ardmore, Pennsylvania, Austin Ludwig from Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, Ian Nilsen from Easton, Connecticut, Christian Nilsen from Easton, Connecticut, and Matt Park from Bridgewater, New Jersey.
- The Bobcats will open up MAAC play on March 7th as they start a three-game home series against the Iona Gaels.
- Quinnipiac will battle in-state rival Yale on March 19th at Yale (3 PM) and at home against Yale on April 15th (3 PM).
- On April 1st, the Bobcats will travel to Storrs to take on the UConn Huskies in a midweek non-conference matchup.
- Quinnipiac will play their final home series of the season from May 8-12 as the Siena Saints come to Hamden.
- QU will wrap up the regular season at Sacred Heart for a three-game set from May 15-17.
NEXT TIME OUT
- The Bobcats will head off to Lewiston, New York to take on the Niagara Purple Eagles in a three-game MAAC series starting on Friday, April 4th.
