STORRS, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Baseball team fell to the UConn Huskies, 9-3, on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Huskies got the scoring started in the opening inning as they scored three runs to open a three-run lead.

UConn would add four more runs in the third inning as they took a 7-0 lead against the Bobcats. Quinnipiac would get one run back in the fifth inning as Kyle Garbowski singled through the vacated shortstop hole on a perfectly executed hit-and-run.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Huskies scored two more runs to take a 9-1 lead. The Bobcats responded with two runs in the top of the sixth inning. Alex Irizarry hit a home run to right field to make it a seven-run game. With one out in the inning, Cole Constable would fly out to left field to score Johnny Knox with Quinnipiac's third run of the game.

The two sides would be held off the board in the final three innings as the Huskies defeated Quinnipiac 9-3 in the non-conference matchup.

NEWS AND NOTES

Seven Bobcats recorded at least one hit in the loss and three of the seven recorded multiple hits.
In his first game in the leadoff spot, Kyle Garbowski recorded two hits and drove in a run.
Garbowski is now hitting .342 on the season, which is good for third on the squad.
Alex Irizarry blasted his seventh home run of the season with his sixth-inning blast.
Irizarry is second on the team in home runs, sitting one behind Smith and Mueller for the team lead.
Alex Irizarry has picked up a hit in eight of the last nine contests.
Johnny Knox is now batting .315 on the season after going 2-for-3 against the Huskies.
Christian Smith picked up two hits, giving him 40 on the year.
Sean McCulloch extended his on-base streak to 25 games and has reached base safely in 25 of 26 games he has played this season.
