Bobcats Drop Series Finale To Manhattan

HAMDEN, Conn. –The Manhattan Jaspers won the series finale from the Bobcats 5-4 on Sunday afternoon in Hamden to win their second MAAC series of the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats and Jaspers combined for just four hits through the first four innings as the teams were both held scoreless in Hamden.
Manhattan broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning as they scored three runs in their half of the inning. Gabe Wright got the Bobcats on the board in the bottom half of the inning as he hit a double off the left-field wall to score Johnny Knox.
Quinnipiac shut down the Jaspers in the sixth inning and went to work in the bottom half. Alex Irizarry singled home CJ Willis to make it a one-run game with one out in the inning. With the bases loaded, Johnny Knox drew a bases-loaded walk to knot the game up at three.
After getting another shutdown inning, the Bobcats looked to take the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the bases loaded and one out in the inning, Alex Irizarry hit a grounder to first base that was not fielded cleanly as he reached on an error and Sean McCulloch scored to put the Bobcats in front.
Manhattan had a quick response in the eighth inning as they struck for two runs to take a 5-4 lead. The Jaspers got the shutdown innings they needed to close out the win to take the series from the Bobcats.

- Seven Bobcats recorded at least one hit in the loss and two of the seven recorded multiple hits.
- Gabe Wright picked up two hits and drove in a run with his RBI double off the wall.
- This is just the second game this season that Gabe Wright has recorded multiple hits (3/21 versus Marist).
- CJ Willis drove in three runs in the loss to push his season total to 30, which is good for third on the team.
- Johnny Knox picked up his 11th RBI of the season in the loss.
- Alex Irizarry has picked up a hit in seven of the last eight contests.
- Sean McCulloch extended his on-base streak to 24 games and has reached base safely in 24 of 25 games he has played this season.
- McCulloch's two hits pushed his season total to 32, giving him a .296 batting average for the season.
- McCulloch's two-hit performance is the first time he has recorded multiple hits in a single game since March 21st versus Marist.
- Matt Alduino went 5.0 innings in his seventh start of the season and allowed three runs on five hits.
