HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team will wrap up their homestand with a three-game series against the Manhattan Jaspers. The series will begin on Friday, March 28th at 3 PM and will wrap up on Sunday, March 30th at 1 PM from the Quinnipiac Baseball Field.
HISTORY VS. MANHATTAN
- Friday's matchup will be the 24th time the two programs are facing off in their Division I history.
- The Bobcats lead the series 16-7 and are 9-3 as the home team.
- The two teams last faced each other last season in a three-game series where the Jaspers took two out of three (April 26-28, 2024).
- Manhattan will enter the matchup on Friday with an 8-15 overall record and a 3-6 record in MAAC play, sitting in eighth place in the conference.
- The Jaspers are coming off a 19-4 loss to Columbia on Wednesday, March 26th. Manhattan allowed eight runs in the first four innings to fall to Columbia.
- Andreaus Lewis has started 20 games for the Jaspers and leads the club with a .359 batting average. Lewis leads the team with 17 RBIs and is third on the team with two home runs.
- Andrew Castelluccio has started four games on the mound for the Jaspers and leads the team with a 4.91 ERA. Castelluccio has a 1-1 record in six appearances and has recorded 19 strikeouts in 29.1 innings pitched.
- The Bobcats came from behind to defeat the URI Rams in a midweek non-conference matchup on Tuesday, March 25th.
- The Rams held an 8-5 lead over the Bobcats heading into the final two innings.
- Quinnipiac would score four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to put them in front of the Rams. James Marino's double knotted the game up at eight and Johnny Knox gave Quinnipiac the lead with a double of his own.
- Ryan O'Connell closed out the ninth to earn his first save of the season and first as a Bobcat as QU defeated URI 9-8.
- 20 – Quinnipiac steals the 20th most bases in the NCAA with 59, good for second in the MAAC.
- 21 – Christian Smith is 21st in the NCAA with 36 RBIs, which is also the most RBIs in the conference.
- 44 – As a team, the Bobcats have the 44th-best batting average in Division I (.307) and are one of two MAAC teams with a team batting average of over .300.
- 51 – QU also ranks 51st in the NCAA with 201 total runs scored, also leading the MAAC.
- 53 – The Bobcats are 53rd in the NCAA with 248 total hits so far this season, which also leads the MAAC.
- 79 – Quinnipiac ranks 79th in Division I with 28 total home runs, which also leads the conference.

- The Quinnipiac Baseball team was picked to finish 4th in the MAAC Preseason Poll.
- Outfielder CJ Willis was the lone Bobcat representative on the Preseason All-MAAC team.
- The senior started 49 games last season and had a batting average of .284.
- Willis hit eight home runs, eleven doubles, and three triples while driving in 42 RBIs.
- Willis Drove in a season-high four RBIs in the win against UMass (5/1).
- The Bobcats return 15 players from last year's team, with 12 of those players seeing game action.
- Gabe Wright, Christian Smith, Kyle Garbowski, CJ Willis, Sebastian Mueller, and James Marino will be key returners on the offensive side of the plate.
- Jack Kabel, Ryan Hutchinson, Mike Poncini, Jack Gannon, Matt Alduino, and Andrew Rubayo will look to make an impact when they toe the rubber.
- Matt Alduino and Andrew Rubayo were named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Preseason Watchlist.
LOTS OF NEW FACES
- Quinnipiac welcomes 16 new faces to their campus this season.
- The Bobcats used the transfer portal to fill the holes in their lineup, grabbing Sean McCulloch (Susquehanna), Johnny Knox (Nichols College), Alex Irizarry (Maryland), Josh Lajoie (Lipscomb), Ryan O'Connell (St. Bonaventure), Griffin Seibel (Xavier), Cole Constable (Maryland), Luke Zeisloft (Maryland), Jack Bryan (Trevecca Nazarene), and Nick Balcom (Finger Lakes Community College).
- Quinnipiac also brought in six first years, J.C. Franconere from Sparta, New Jersey, Samuel Wright from Ardmore, Pennsylvania, Austin Ludwig from Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, Ian Nilsen from Easton, Connecticut, Christian Nilsen from Easton, Connecticut, and Matt Park from Bridgewater, New Jersey.
- The Bobcats will open up MAAC play on March 7th as they start a three-game home series against the Iona Gaels.
- Quinnipiac will battle in-state rival Yale on March 19th at Yale (3 PM) and at home against Yale on April 15th (3 PM).
- On April 1st, the Bobcats will travel to Storrs to take on the UConn Huskies in a midweek non-conference matchup.
- Quinnipiac will play their final home series of the season from May 8-12 as the Siena Saints come to Hamden.
- QU will wrap up the regular season at Sacred Heart for a three-game set from May 15-17.
