Bobcats Score Four in the Eighth Inning to Down URI

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to come from behind to defeat the URI Rams on Tuesday afternoon in Hamden.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Rhode Island scored the game's first run in the second inning as the Rams scored a run on a wild pitch to take a 1-0 lead. Rhode Island doubled their lead in the 3rd inning as a run came in on an RBI double to left center.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Rams added two runs on an error by the Bobcats. Quinnipiac came all the way back in the bottom half of the inning, scoring four runs to even the game. James Marino singled to bring home Quinnipiac's first run of the game. Johnny Knox followed up with a bunt single, bringing home Alex Irizarry. Gabe Wright was able to reach on a throwing error by the pitcher on a bunt and both James Marino and Johnny Knox came in to score and even the game up at four.
Sebastian Mueller gave the Bobcats the lead in the sixth inning as he launched a solo home run over the left-center field wall. Rhode Island responded in the seventh inning with four runs to take an 8-5 lead.
The Bobcats came up to bat in the eighth inning trailing by three runs and capitalized on their chances. Sebastian Mueller made it a two-run game with an RBI double down the left-field line. Alex Irizarry brought Quinnipiac within one run as he scored Kyle Garbowski on a groundout to first base. James Marino knotted the game up at eight with a double down the line to bring home Mueller. Johnny Knox followed suit with an RBI double of his own to score Marino with the ninth run.
Ryan O'Connell got the call out of the bullpen in the ninth inning and got the final batter to fly out to center field to end the game.
