HAMDEN, Conn. – The Marist Red Foxes scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the Bobcats to even the series up at one game apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Quinnipiac started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning, scoring two in the inning. Back-to-back sacrifice flies from Christian Smith and CJ Willis gave Quinnipiac their first two runs of the game. Marist answered right back in the top of the second with three runs to take a 3-2 lead.

With the Bobcats trailing by one heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, CJ Willis led the inning off with a solo home run to deep left field to knot the game up at three.

The game stayed tied at three until the bottom of the sixth inning when CJ Willis launched his second home run of the game to put the Bobcats in front. Marist would take the lead in the top of the eighth inning as they brought in three runs.

The Bobcats had an immediate response in their half of the eighth inning as Alex Irizarry blasted a three-run home run to put Quinnipiac back in front 7-6.

The Red Foxes retook the lead in the ninth inning off a two-run home run to put them in front 8-7. CJ Willis came up in the ninth with two runners on and flew out at the left-field wall to end the game.

NEWS AND NOTES

Five of the starters recorded at least one hit in the loss and two of those five recorded multiple hits.
CJ Willis hit two home runs in the game to push his season total to five.
Sebastian Mueller failed to pick up a hit as his hit streak ended at 20 games.
Sean McCulloch extended his on-base streak to 19 games and has reached base safely in 19 of 20 games he has played this season.
Kyle Garbowski picked up two hits to push his batting average to .303.
Alex Irizarry's eighth-inning home run is his fifth home run as a Bobcat.
