HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats allowed five runs in the first two innings as they dropped the series finale to the Marist Red Foxes, 7-4, on Sunday afternoon in Hamden.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Marist Red Foxes opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with an RBI groundout. Marist held Quinnipiac off the board in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on four more runs in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead.

The game remained 5-0 until the Bobcats came up to bat in the bottom of the fourth inning. CJ Willis punched a single to right field to score Kyle Garbowski to make it a 5-1 game.

The Red Foxes responded in the top of the sixth inning with a two-run triple to give them a 7-1 lead heading into the final three innings.

The Bobcats attempted to come back and got closer in the eighth inning. Quinnipiac brought in three runs in the 8^th inning to make it a 7-4 game. Sebastian Mueller tripled off the left-field wall to bring home Garbowski for their first run of the inning. CJ Willis followed up with an RBI single, scoring Mueller from third to cut their deficit to four. With the bases loaded and two outs, James Marino reached on an error as another run came in to make it a three-run game.

Quinnipiac threatened in the last of the ninth inning as they had two runners on and Christian Smith coming to the plate as the potential tying run. The Red Foxes got Smith to ground into an inning-ending double play to take the series from the Bobcats.

NEWS AND NOTES

Four Bobcats recorded hits in the series finale and two of the four recorded multiple hits.
CJ Willis picked up two hits and drove in two runs, pushing his season RBI total to 22.
Willis is now batting .304 on the season and has recorded a hit in four straight games.
Sean McCulloch extended his on-base streak to 20 games and has reached base safely in 20 of 21 games he has played this season.
Kyle Garbowski picked up three hits, pushing his batting average to .323, which is good for third on the team.

The Bobcats will face the Rhode Island Rams on Tuesday, March 25^th in a non-conference matchup. First pitch from the Quinnipiac Baseball Field is slated for 3 PM and can be seen on ESPN+.
