Bobcats Battle Over Five Sets vs. Boston College

HANOVER, N.H. — The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team pushed Boston College to the brink on Friday evening, battling through 40 tie scores and 16 lead changes before falling in a five-set matchup (22-25, 20-25, 27-25, 25-23, 8-15) at Leede Arena .

- Sophia Minlend spearheaded the Bobcats' attack with 16 kills and four digs

The Eagles closed out the set 25-22 on a final block by Naomi Watson . - Set 2 (Boston College 25, Quinnipiac 20): Quinnipiac jumped out to a 5-2 lead early in the second set behind kills from Minlend and an ace by Negron Diaz
. Boston College mounted a run behind the high-powered hitting of Audrey Ross and Sofija Marjanovic, claiming a 17-12 lead . Kills from Sahra Ozbiltekin and Tonelli trimmed the deficit , but the Eagles hit .409 as a unit in the frame to secure the set 25-20 . - Set 3 (Quinnipiac 27, Boston College 25): Refusing to back down, the Bobcats staged a relentless comeback in a set featuring 12 ties and five lead changes
. Behind the serving of Belli—who recorded an ace alongside kills from Farah Sherif, Tonelli, and Sila Yildiz—QU built a commanding 13-6 lead . Boston College clawed back to take a 25-24 lead , but Quinnipiac responded under pressure . A kill by Minlend tied it, Belli put QU ahead with a clutch strike, and a joint block by Minlend and Belli capped off a dramatic 27-25 set victory . - Set 4 (Quinnipiac 25, Boston College 23): Quinnipiac carried its momentum straight into the fourth, starting on a 3-0 run aided by an Ozbiltekin and Belli block
. Down 19-14, the Bobcats orchestrated a crucial 5-0 surge featuring kills from Minlend and Ozbiltekin to knot the score at 19 . Late kills by Belli and Tonelli set up set point at 24-22 , and QU forced a decisive fifth set when Boston College committed an attack error to end the frame at 25-23 . - Set 5 (Boston College 15, Quinnipiac 8): In the final frame, the Eagles surged ahead early with a 6-0 run to take an 8-3 lead behind strong net play from Sam Hoppes
