EASTON, PA – Quinnipiac women's volleyball dropped the opening match at the 2026 Leopard Invitational on Saturday evening, falling 3-1 against Penn in a non-conference contest.

Sahra Ozbiltekin led QU with 12 kills, while Vittoria Tonelli recorded 11 and Sophia Minlend added 10.

First-year Bobcat Sophia Gisslen registered 35 assists, setting a new career-high mark. She also tallied seven digs.

Sophia Gisslen finished with 35 assists, raising her season total to 67 during her first campaign with the Bobcats.
Sahra Ozbiltekin tied her season-best mark with 12 kills. She also registered 12 kills on 8/29/26 vs. Air Force.
Vittoria Tonelli is up to 40 kills for the 2026 season (15 sets played).
Sila Yildiz added four digs and four blocks – both season-high marks.

GAME REWIND (Penn 3, Quinnipiac 1)

Set 1: Penn took an early 5-1 lead and never looked back in the opening set of the match. The Bobcats went on a 5-0 run to battle back in the middle of the set and cut the lead to 12-10, but Penn responded with a 7-0 run shortly after to regain control. Both Vittoria Tonelli and Asia Belli recorded two kills in the first set for QU.
Set 2: Penn built early 5-2 and 10-7 leads during the second stanza. An Asia Belli kill brought the Bobcats within one at 23-22, but Penn scored two consecutive points to finish off the set. Sophia Minlend led Quinnipiac with four kills during the second set, while Sophia Gisslen stuffed the box score with 10 assists.
Set 3: Sophia Minlend, Vittoria Tonelli, and Sahra Ozbiltekin each had five kills during the third set, which Quinnipiac took 25-22. Sophia Gisslen added another 17 assists in the frame. Quinnipiac led 15-10 midway through, before Sahra Ozbiltekin went on a personal 3-0 run to extend the lead. Sila Yildiz put the exclamation point on the set win with a kill.
Set 4: Penn opened with a 5-1 lead to bounce back in the fourth and never trailed. The Quakers closed the non-conference matchup on a 5-2 run to seal the victory.
