Volleyball Takes Match from Saint Peter's, Improves to 5-2 in MAAC Play

Jersey City, New Jersey – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team finished the weekend with a four-set win over Saint Peter's on Saturday afternoon.
The Peacocks held the early advantage in the first set, as they opened on a 13-9 run, which forced the Bobcats to call the first timeout of the set. Out of the break, the Bobcats got closer as they made it 23-20 as the Peacocks used their first timeout. With the Peacocks leading 23-20 at the break, Saint Peter's came out of the timeout and sealed the first set by scoring two of the next three points.
Quinnipiac responded with a quick start in the second set, starting on an 8-3 scoring run as Saint Peter's used a timeout to settle things down. The Bobcats continued to have things go their way as their lead stretched to 15-7 as SPU used their final timeout of the set. The Peacocks outscored the Bobcats for the remainder of the set, but it wasn't enough as Quinnipiac won the second set, 25-18.
The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead for the second straight set as they forced the Peacocks to call a timeout with the Bobcats leading 12-10. A 6-0 scoring run out of the timeout forced the Peacocks to use their final timeout of the set. Quinnipiac continued to dominate the third set as they closed out on a 7-2 run to take the third set, 25-12.
For the third straight set, the Bobcats took an early lead as the Peacocks called a timeout with SPU down 8-5. A 14-9 scoring run from Saint Peter's flipped the script as Kyle Robinson called a timeout to settle the Bobcats down. Out of their timeout, the Bobcats were able to knot the set up at 20 as Saint Peter's called their final timeout of the set. After Saint Peter's retook the lead, 23-21, the Bobcats had to call their final timeout of the set. Quinnipiac was powered by a 4-0 scoring run to steal the set and win the match.

- Yagmur Gunes led the Bobcats in kills for the second consecutive match, recording 17 in the win.
- Gunes also recorded 12 digs as she recorded her tenth double-double of the season and second straight.
- Elena Giacomini recorded double-digit kills (16) for the 19th time this season, reaching 10+ kills in each match so far.
- Giacomini has recorded double-digit kills in all but four matches throughout her QU career.
- Giacomini registered her 13th double-double of the season, recording 15 digs in the win, which tied for the team lead (Damla Gunes).
- Damla Gunes led the team with 38 assists, and four other Bobcats recorded at least one assist in the win.
- Gunes also led the team with four service aces against the Peacocks.
- Milena Silva led the Bobcats with 7.0 total blocks in the match.
- Six Bobcats recorded at least one kill in the win.
- Seven Bobcats recorded at least one dig in the four-set victory.
- With the win, the Bobcats improve to 5-2 in conference play.
