HOW IT HAPPENED
Â
- Set One (Dartmouth 25, Quinnipiac 22): Quinnipiac jumped out to an early lead behind service aces from Sophia Gisslen and Asia Belli alongside early putdowns from Farah Sherif. The Big Green answered with a run midway through the frame, taking advantage of consecutive service aces by Zori Brown to go up 11-10. Quinnipiac pushed back to force a late 20-20 deadlock following a kill from Vittoria Tonelli. However, Dartmouth capitalized on a late 3-0 surge to reach set point and closed out the opening set 25-22.
- Set Two (Dartmouth 25, Quinnipiac 22): The Bobcats traded points through a highly competitive second frame that featured 10 tie scores. Behind setting from Gisslen and attack contributions from Giulia Ragusa, Sophia Minlend, and Tonelli, Quinnipiac continuously answered Dartmouth's offense. Trailing 20-18, the Bobcats rallied as back-to-back scoring plays capped by a Gisslen ace tied the set at 20-20. The Big Green managed to retain the edge at the net, closing out the set on a 5-2 run to take a 2-0 match lead.
- Set Three (Quinnipiac 27, Dartmouth 25): Refusing to back down, Quinnipiac rallied early in the third stanza. A Ragusa ace paired with strong blocking up front from Sila Yildiz and Sahra Ozbiltekin sparked a 5-0 Bobcat run, extending their lead to 11-5. Dartmouth fought back to tie the set late at 20-20 and eventually forced extra points at 24-24 and 25-25. Quinnipiac showed resilience in the clutch, securing the final two points on a clutch kill by Ozbiltekin and a Big Green attack error to claim the third set 27-25.
- Set Four (Dartmouth 25, Quinnipiac 20): The fourth set remained tight early, featuring 12 tie scores and five lead changes. Ragusa provided a spark for the Bobcats with six kills in the set alone, while Belli added key strikes to keep Quinnipiac within striking distance at 18-18. Dartmouth eventually used a 4-0 run late in the set to pull ahead 24-20 before clinching the frame and the match on a match-ending service ace.
