Bobcats Take Down Saints in Four Sets

Loudonville, New York – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team started its weekend with a four-set win over the Siena Saints on Friday night in Loudonville, New York.
The Bobcats took the early advantage in the match as they started on a 15-11 scoring run in the opening set. After Siena called their first timeout of the set, the Bobcats responded with another run, 7-5, to grow their lead to 22-16. With the set one victory in sight, QU scored three of the next four points to seal the opening set.
Quinnipiac picked up where they left off, starting the second set on a 6-0 run to force the Saints to use an early timeout. The Bobcats maintained control throughout the second set, winning the frame, 25-14, to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Bobcats held a 19-15 lead in the third set as Siena called their first timeout of the set. The Saints came out of their timeout and went on a 6-3 scoring run to force the Bobcats to use a timeout. After the Bobcats went up 25-24 in the set, the Saints used their final timeout of the third set. After the Bobcats called a timeout down 27-26, the Bobcats and Saints traded points until the Saints ultimately won the third set, 35-33.
Quinnipiac led for much of the fourth set as they led 17-15 as the Saints called the first timeout of the fourth set. The Bobcats went on a 5-2 scoring run out of the timeout to force Siena to call their final timeout of the set. QU was able to close out the set and the match with a 3-0 scoring run to defeat the Saints.

- Yagmur Gunes led the Bobcats in kills for the third consecutive match, recording 25 in the win.
- Gunes also recorded 11 digs as she recorded her eleventh double-double of the season and second straight.
- Elena Giacomini recorded double-digit kills (16) for the 20th time this season, reaching 10+ kills in each match so far.
- Giacomini has recorded double-digit kills in all but four matches throughout her QU career.
- Giacomini registered her 14th double-double of the season, recording 15 digs in the win, which was good for the team lead.
- Leilani-kai Giusta reached double-digit kills for the fourth time this season as she registered 12 in the match.
- Damla Gunes led the team with 48 assists, and four other Bobcats recorded at least one assist in the win.
- Yagmur Gunes led the team with five service aces in the win. Five other Bobcats recorded at least one ace in the four-set match.
- Asia Belli led the Bobcats with 2.5 total blocks in the match.
- Six Bobcats recorded at least one kill in the win.
- Seven Bobcats recorded at least one dig in the four-set victory.
- With the win, the Bobcats improve to 6-2 in conference play and 9-11 overall.
