Quinnipiac Closes Out Day One in Second Place

CANTON, Mass. – The Quinnipiac women's golf program kicked off their 2024 Fall schedule with day one of the Red Bandana Invitational on Monday, September 23rd. The Bobcats ended day one (36 holes) in second place after the team shot 618 (+42).
First-year Sophia Fujita and sophomore Natalie Spiska finished day one in a tie for 7th place. Fujita shot an 81 (+9) in the first round before shooting a 72 (E) to close the day. Spiska carded a 77 (+5) in the first 18 holes of action and a 76 (+4) in the final 18.
Marisa Flores closed out her first day of collegiate golf in a tie for 27th place. Flores finished the first round with a score of 83 (+11) but shot 75 (+3) in the second round to give her a total of 158 (+14).
Reigning MAAC Rookie of the Year Samantha Galantini finished day one in a tie for 27th place (+14). Galantini shot a 76 (+4) and 82 (+10) in the first and second rounds, respectively.
Fuge Zhang rounded out the Quinnipiac grouping as she finished in a tie for 37th place (+17). Zhang carded an 81 (+9) in the first round and an 80 (+8) in the second round.
Amy Goddard competed as an individual in her first collegiate tournament and finished day one in 79th place after shooting an 89 (+17) and an 85 (+13).
The Bobcats will be back in action tomorrow, September 24th as they wrap up competition at the Red Bandana Invitational hosted by Boston College.

- Quinnipiac sits in second place out of 15 teams and is two strokes ahead of the third-place team, Merrimack.
- Fujita recorded 23 pars on day one of the Invitational, which was good for the team lead.
- Galantini was second on the team with 22 pars through 36 holes.
- Spiska led the team with five birdies after day one of the competition.
- Quinnipiac's grouping recorded a total of 100 pars and 15 birdies.
