HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team dropped the first game of their final home MAAC series, 7-4, to the Saint Peter's Peacocks on Thursday afternoon.

With the loss, the Bobcats will fall to 17-27 overall and 7-12 in MAAC play, while Saint Peter's will improve to 11-36 overall and 5-14 in the conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats were the first team to put runs on the board with a two-run single from Christian Smith to score Matt DeRosa and CJ Willis.

Saint Peter's got one run back in the second inning as a run came in on a passed ball. In the bottom of the third inning, CJ Willis extended the lead back to two as he brought home Jared Zimbardo with an RBI single.

The Peacocks got a run in both the fourth and fifth innings to even the game at three. In the bottom half of the fifth, Jared Zimbardo blasted a solo home run to deep left field to put the Bobcats back in front.

After Saint Peter's tied the game in the top of the sixth when a run came in on a double play, the Peacocks put up three runs in the eighth inning to take a 7-4 lead.

NEWS AND NOTES

Three different Bobcats recorded hits in the loss to Saint Peter's.
Christian Smith went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the offense with two RBIs.
CJ Willis went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in the effort.
Jared Zimbardo led the offense with two hits in three at-bats and recorded his sixth home run of the season.
Zimbardo's on-base streak is now at 43 games.
