FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Quinnipiac baseball team will wrap up their regular season schedule as they take on the Fairfield Stags for three games in Fairfield. Game one is set for Thursday, May 16th at 3 PM with games two and three slated for 1 PM on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Quinnipiac baseball team will wrap up their regular season schedule as they take on the Fairfield Stags for three games in Fairfield. Game one is set for Thursday, May 16th at 3 PM with games two and three slated for 1 PM on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
HISTORY VS. FAIRFIELD
- Thursday's matchup will be the 36th time the two programs will be facing off.
- Fairfield leads the all-time series, 25-10, dating back to April 24, 2008.
- In their last matchup, Fairfield defeated the Bobcats 12-4 in Pomona, NY at the 2023 MAAC Baseball Championships.
- The semifinal loss to the Stags ended the Bobcats' 2023 season and Fairfield went on to drop the MAAC Championship to Rider.
- Fairfield enters the weekend series at a 30-21 overall record and an 18-3 mark in the MAAC, which has them in first place in the conference.
- The Stags are coming off a midweek contest against the St John's Red Storm, where they defeated the Red Storm by a final score of 5-4. Matt Bucciero led the Stags with 2 RBIs, including the game-winning RBI.
- Dean Ferrara has started 49 games for the Stags and leads the team with a .390 batting average. Ferrara has five home runs on the year and has driven in 35 runs. Ethan Hibbard leads the team with 16 home runs and 60 runs batted in.
- Colin McVeigh leads Fairfield with an 8-2 record in 13 appearances. McVeigh holds a 3.84 ERA and has recorded 84 strikeouts in 72.2 innings pitched.
- The Bobcats dropped a midweek non-conference battle to the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 18-17, on Tuesday afternoon in Bridgeport.
- QU fought back after being in an 8-1 hole after the first inning to take a 10-9 lead through four innings of play.
- The Bobcats and Pioneers traded leads and the Bobcats saw themselves in front, 17-16, entering the bottom of the ninth inning.
- Sacred Heart would walk it off in the bottom of the ninth with a two-run single down the right-field line to take the 18-17 win.

- O'Connor drove in a game-high 7 runs in a win over Saint Peter's (5/11).
- Sebastian Mueller was named to the 2023 MAAC All-Academic Team
- Mueller played in 56 games and made 55 starts as a junior
- In 225 at-bats just a season ago, Mueller had a batting average of .311.
- He hit 18 homers, to lead the team, and drove in 54 runs.
- Mueller went 4-for-7 and drove in a season high 8 runs in a win over Saint Peter's (5/11)
- The Bobcats return 23 players from last season's team.
- Sophomore Matt Alduino will be a key returner as he earned 2023 All-Rookie honors for his incredible campaign. Alduino led the team with a 4.50 ERA and 1.38 WHIP.
- Starting Pitchers, Mason Ulsh and Jimmy Hagan will also play a key role this season. Hagan will return to the mound after being shut down last season. Ulsh will look to play off his solid sophomore season.
- Other key returners include Braydon Seaburg, John Heitzman, Sean Swenson, Aaron Zenus, Matt DeRosa, Sam Favieri, Frank Craska, and Andrew Rubayo.
LOTS OF NEW FACES
- Quinnipiac welcomes 13 new faces to their campus this season.
- The Bobcats used the transfer portal to fill any openings and grabbed Dominick Proctor (Bryant and Stratton), CJ Willis (Western New England), Skyler Manelski (Linfield University), Jack Kabel (Nichols College), Gabe Wright (Indian River State College), Brett Leighton (Gettysburg), and Jack Gannon (Saint Peter's).
- Quinnipiac also brought in six first years, Spencer Chard (Newtown, Conn.), Kyle Garbowski (New Fairfield, Conn.), Raymond McNaught (East Bridgewater, Mass.), Andrew Hearn (Westfield, Mass.), James Fahan (Stamford, Conn.), and Sam Ametrano (Guilford, Conn.).
- The Bobcats will wrap up their regular season conference schedule with a three-game series at Fairfield. The Bobcats and Stags will kick off the series on Thursday, May 16th at 3 PM.
