Bobcats Score Five In The Seventh To Complete Comeback

AMHERST, Mass. – The Quinnipiac baseball program defeated the UMASS Minutemen in a midweek, non-conference matchup by a final score of 11-6 on Wednesday afternoon.
With the win, the Bobcats will improve to 17-23 overall, while UMASS will fall to 18-23 overall with the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Quinnipiac got on the board in the top of the first inning as CJ Willis singled to center field to bring home Jared Zimbardo with the game's first run.
UMass evened the game at one with an RBI double to center field. In the top of the fourth inning, CJ Willis put the Bobcats back in the lead with a solo home run to left field.
In the top of the fifth inning, CJ Willis brought home his third RBI of the game with a bases loaded walk. Gabe Wright was the next batter and reached on a bunt single, while Julian Buchman crossed the plate to open a 4-1 lead.
The Minutemen responded in the bottom half of the fifth inning as two runs came home on a throwing error with two outs in the inning. Later in the inning, a three-run home run would give UMass the lead, 6-4.
With the Bobcats trailing by two in the seventh inning, the offense was able to load the bases. CJ Willis came up to the plate and drew a bases loaded walk to bring home RBI number four. Matt DeRosa followed up with a single to right field to bring home the tying run. Kyle Garbowski later doubled to left center to bring home two more runs to take a three-run lead.

- Six different Bobcats recorded hits in the win over UMass.
- CJ Wilis (2-for-3) led the offense with four RBIs and two runs scored.
- Matt DeRosa went 3-for-5 on the day and drove in three runs.
- Gabe Wright bumps up his average to .239 as he went 3-for-5 on the day and recorded an RBI.
- Kyle Garbowski went 2-for-4 with an two-run double.
- Julian Buchman picked up a hit in three at-bats with two runs scored.
- Jared Zimbardo recorded a hit, which extends his on-base streak to 39 games.
- Zimbardo, Willis, and Wright each recorded a stolen base.

- The Bobcats will take the trip to Niagara Falls, New York to battle the Niagara Purple Eagles in a three-game MAAC series starting on Friday, May 3rd at 3 PM.
