HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac baseball team is set to host the Canisius Golden Griffins for a three-game series starting on Friday, April 19^th at 3 PM. The series finale is set for Sunday, April 21^st with first pitch scheduled for 1 PM.

HISTORY VS. CANISIUS

Friday's contest will mark the 31^st time the two programs will be facing off.
Canisius leads the all-time series, 19-11.
The last time the two teams faced off, the Bobcats defeated the Canisius Golden Griffins at the MAAC Tournament in Pomona, NY, 7-6.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GRIFFINS

The Golden Griffins enter the weekend series with a 11-18 overall record and a 5-4 MAAC record, which has them in fourth place in the conference.
Canisius is coming off a series sweep of the Siena Saints (April 12-13).
Canisius won the opening game of the series in an offensive batter, 18-10. Canisius and Siena played a double header on Saturday and the Golden Griffins won game one, 9-6, and game two, 7-6.
Jackson Strong has started 29 games for the Golden Griffins and leads the team with a .407 batting average. Strong is 27-for-29 in stolen base attempts, which leads the team, and has 10 home runs and 26 RBIs, which is also the team lead.
Tom Peltier has made eleven appearances for the Canisius pitching staff and holds a 3-0 record. Peltier has a pitched 34.0 innings, striking out 40 and holds an ERA of 3.97.

LAST TIME OUT

Quinnipiac defeated the NJIT Highlanders in a three-game series, with the home team winning each contest.
In game one, the Bobcats saw themselves down 6-3 heading into the seventh inning when they exploded for five runs and then four in the 8^th inning to take a 12-7 win.
Both teams headed to New Jersey for game two, where we needed extra innings until Albert Choi hit a walk-off home run to tie the series at one.
In the series finale back in Hamden, the Bobcats saw themselves with a 5-1 lead heading into the ninth. NJIT scored two runs before Andrew Rubayo closed the door and sealed the series win.

O' CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN

Junior Keegan O'Connor enters his senior season.
O'Connor was named to the All-MAAC First Team and NEIBA All-New England First Team
O'Connor played and started in 55 games a season ago and batted .342.
He blasted 13 home runs and drove in 60 runs and scored 51 runs.
O'Connor drove in a game-high 7 runs in a win over Saint Peter's (5/11).

SE-BASH-TIAN

Sebastian Mueller was named to the 2023 MAAC All-Academic Team
Mueller played in 56 games and made 55 starts as a junior
In 225 at-bats just a season ago, Mueller had a batting average of .311.
He hit 18 homers, to lead the team, and drove in 54 runs.
Mueller went 4-for-7 and drove in a season high 8 runs in a win over Saint Peter's (5/11)

KEY RETURNERS

The Bobcats return 23 players from last season's team.
Sophomore Matt Alduino will be a key returner as he earned 2023 All-Rookie honors for his incredible campaign. Alduino led the team with a 4.50 ERA and 1.38 WHIP.
Starting Pitchers, Mason Ulsh and Jimmy Hagan will also play a key role this season. Hagan will return to the mound after being shut down last season. Ulsh will look to play off his solid sophomore season.
Other key returners include Braydon Seaburg, John Heitzman, Sean Swenson, Aaron Zenus, Matt DeRosa, Sam Favieri, Frank Craska, and Andrew Rubayo.

LOTS OF NEW FACES

Quinnipiac welcomes 13 new faces to their campus this season.
The Bobcats used the transfer portal to fill any openings and grabbed Dominick Proctor (Bryant and Stratton), CJ Willis (Western New England), Skyler Manelski (Linfield University), Jack Kabel (Nichols College), Gabe Wright (Indian River State College), Brett Leighton (Gettysburg), and Jack Gannon (Saint Peter's).
Quinnipiac also brought in six first years, Spencer Chard (Newtown, Conn.), Kyle Garbowski (New Fairfield, Conn.), Raymond McNaught (East Bridgewater, Mass.), Andrew Hearn (Westfield, Mass.), James Fahan (Stamford, Conn.), and Sam Ametrano (Guilford, Conn.).

NEXT TIME OUT

The Bobcats will hit the road next Wednesday, April 24^th, to New Britain, Connecticut to take on the CCSU Blue Devils at 3 PM.
