
QU Wins Game One Against Canisius

The Bobcats will improve to 12-21 overall and 4-6 in the MAAC, while Canisius will fall to 11-19 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless four and a half innings, the Bobcats were the first to get on the board in the bottom half of the fifth inning. With two runners on base, a wild pitch allowed Matt DeRosa to score and move Dominick Proctor to third. With one out in the inning and Proctor on third, another wild pitch brought him home to give Quinnipiac a 2-0 lead.
Canisius bounced right back in the sixth inning as they tied the game at two. A groundout to third brought home their first run of the game and an RBI double to left center tied the game at two.
Quinnipiac broke the game open in the bottom of the seventh inning as they put up a five spot to make it a 7-2 game. Keegan O'Connor singled up the middle to bring home Jared Zimbardo and break the 2-2 tie.

With the bases loaded, Gabe Wright stepped into the box and launched a double to the left center field gap to clear the bases and make it a 6-2 game.

With two outs in the inning, a passed ball allowed Gabe Wright to come home and give the Bobcats a five-run lead.
Canisius made it a four-run game in the eighth inning as Strong hit a double to left center to bring home a run. In the bottom half of the inning, CJ Willis doubled to right center and brought home O'Connor to bring the lead back to five.

- Six different Bobcats recorded hits in the series opener.
- Gabe Wright led the offense with three runs batted in as he recorded a hit in four at-bats.
- CJ Willis and Dominick Proctor each recorded two hits in the win.
- Keegan O'Connor and CJ Willis both recorded an RBI each.
- Christian Smith and Matt DeRosa recorded a hit each to help lead the Bobcats to the win.
- Aaron Zenus got the start, going 3.0 innings and allowing just one hit and recording two strikeouts.
- Sam Favieri came out of the bullpen and gave the Bobcats six strong innings to record his fourth win of the season.
- The Bobcats will take on the Canisius Golden Griffins tomorrow at 1 PM for the middle game of the three-game series.
